FAQ Answers
1. We are always looking for help; please contact any VBLL Board member. A complete listing of Board members can be found on the "Board of Directors" tab at the top of the page. Return to Top of Page

2. No, Virginia Beach Little League is a non-smoking environment. There are smoking receptacles in the parking lot. Return to Top of Page
3. Right here on this site! You may also contact a board member. Return to Top of Page
4. The snack bar usually opens as the players arrive for the first game of the day and stays open until one hour after the start of the last game of the day. However, if a team fails to show for their concession stand duty or no one volunteers, the snack bar may not be open. Return to Top of Page
5. The minimum age is 16 to work in the snack bar. Return to Top of Page
6. Little League rule books for Baseball and Softball may be purchased online on the Little League website at Little League Online. There is a modest fee to purchase. Return to Top of Page
1. Managers and Coaches are selected in mid-February each year with tryouts and final team allocation near the end of February. You should be contacted by your child’s coach sometime around the first or second week of March. If you do not receive a call please contact the division director or Player Agent. Return to Top of Page
2. As much as we understand that you want your child on a specific team for various reasons, requests are just that…requests. There is no guarantee they can be honored. There are no requests in the Minor and above divisions of either baseball or softball. Requests in those divisions will not be considered. You can make a written request when you register your child to playeragent@vbll.org for consideration and review . The Player Agent will respond accordingly. Return to Top of Page
3. There is no guarantee a player can be placed on a team once regular registration has ended. All late registrations and questions are to be emailed to playeragent@vbll.org. No phone calls will be accepted and special requests cannot be honored. Return to Top of Page
4. The requirement of proof of address is set by Little League International. In addition, it is important to make sure that all of the children playing within VBLL are in fact within our boundaries as set by Little League. Return to Top of Page
1. In an effort to save money for the league, we have traditionally not hired professional umpires for the Minor division or lower. Return to Top of Page
2. Yes, every registered player will be placed on a team. The tryout process is designed to provide an equitable distribution of players through a tryout and draft process. Tryouts are held for the Minor division and above. Return to Top of Page
3. Each division may be slightly different but in general, the season is between 12 and 16 games. Games will begin around April 1st. Return to Top of Page
4. VBLL participates each year in the various District 8 All Star tournaments that are held. Typically the Minor division and above have All Star tournament teams. The VBLL Board of Directors sets the policy for selecting managers and players each year. Return to Top of Page
1. Your Manager was correct. Little League requires that anyone who has access or contact with players or teams complete a “Little League Volunteer Application” and successfully pass a background check including a nationwide search of government sex offender registry data. Only then would you “get approved”. It is a serious violation of Little League rules if your Manager had let you help without doing this. Return to Top of Page
2. Your first contact should be with the team Manager. The Manager is the best source for information about the team. If the Manager does not know the answer, they will find out and get back with you. You may contact your team's Division Director if you still have concerns. The Director of Softball and the VP of Softball, in that order, should be contacted if your concerns were not addressed by the Division Director. Return to Top of Page
3. Softball has exclusive use of field #2. Field #7 is shared field with Baseball. Strawbridge Elementary School is shared with other organizations. With limited practice space and the number of softball teams, the practice schedule was set up to provide the maximum use of the space available. Unfortunately, not every request could be honored. Your team’s manager will understand if other activities may occasionally conflict with their practice day or time. Your team may have another off site location if the site was approved for use by VBLL. Return to Top of Page
4. Fastpitch pitching requires a lot of time, both by the coach and especially the player. It is estimated that a “good” pitcher throws hundreds of pitches every week. There is just not enough time in a two-hour team practice held a few times a week to devote to pitching as well as work on all the other things a team must do. A pitcher or someone wanting to learn, needs to have a dedicated pitching coach or program. Contact your team Manager and they can refer you to pitching coaches or clinics to attend.
