WDM, Fort Dodge, & Mason City Updates
The new USSSA Iowa website is up and running! Go to www.usssaiowafp.com This new site will be a great new source of information about USSSA in Iowa as well as throughout the Midwest! NEW "C" Class Program We are experiencing a great response about our new "C" class program including the Iowa "C" State Championships June 6-8 in Ankeny and the USSSA "C" Midwest Championships July 10-13th at Tiffany Hills in Kansas City, Missouri. If you have a young developing team or know of young teams in your association we would love to share this information with them. We want to send them all to the Midwest Championships in Kansas City. We want them all to compete for a State Championship. We are also looking for host teams or associations to hold more "C" class events during the late spring and summer. We are excited to bring this event to the USSSA schedule. We look forward to bringing this great event back to glory and making it the finale of a 4 week super series for Central Iowa events. May Madness, EDM Earlybird, Urbandale Gauntlet, WDM Invitational USSSA Iowa is pleased to announce the addition of the Fort Dodge Classic June 6-8! This event will be held at the fantastic Harlan Rogers Park, home of the Iowa High School State Championships. All teams will get games on fields 1 & 2 which are the very same fields used to play out High School Championship games! New for 2008, Harlan Rogers is unveiling 3 new replica fields made to look like Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, & Dodger Stadium! If you have never been to this park, you must see it. It is truly a gem and we love having it on our schedule. CHECK THE 2008 NEWS PAGE FOR MORE DETAILS ON THE FOLLOWING UPDATES NEWS FOR JANUARY 24th We are close to finalizing the details and format for the Club ATK Spring Shootout April 12-13th in Ankeny. This event was initially scheduled to be the ISG 1-day Spring Shootout, but interest has shown teams want a 4 game event with games on Saturday and Sunday with flexible scheduling. Teams will get early or later games on Saturday and Sunday based on what works for them. Look for a flyer and details in the week to come. We are also bringing back the Midwest Showdown for 12 & 14U teams May 3-4th at either Beaverdale or Hawkeye Park in Ankeny. This event will be posted in the next couple of weeks. Interest is growing for the 2nd year of the Beaverdale USSSA Competitive and development leagues. The competitive league is for 10-18U and runs the month of April with doubleheaders each week and friendly scheduling around other leagues/games. The River City Showdown April 26-27 in Mason City has been made the first USSSA State Championship for 2008. The River City will be a State Championship and World Series qualifier for 12, 14, 16, & 18U teams. This event will host 3 teams from Canada in the 12, 14, & high school divisions along with teams from Northern Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, and the Central Iowa area. Teams are allowed to play in more than one State Championship in the same season. The Canadian teams are not eligible to win the Iowa State Championships since obviously their border does not connect with ours. They just love coming to Iowa and playing in our great events. We are working on making this event a double points event and every team that competes will earn a World Series Berth!
