Bruins Win 14 - 4 Over Dyersburg in Region

Region 7-AA
Hunter Smith's three-run homer helped University School of Jackson eliminate Dyersburg, 14-4, in five innings on Monday in the Region 7-AA semifinals at USJ.

The Bruins (35-5) travel to Dyer County (34-13) for the region title at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

"Our bats came alive," USJ coach Brad Dyer said. "Hunter Smith hit a big home run, and that was a big momentum turn for us."

Will Glenn was 3-for-4 with a double to lead USJ's 11-hit offense. Josh Liles and Danny Grimm had two hits each. Clayton Gant (11-1) was the winning pitcher.

Dyer County 13, Covington 2: Kyle Hinson was 3-for-4 with a home run to help Dyer County eliminate Covington at Newbern. Derek Sims (14-1) was the winning pitcher.
