Each year, the Boosters purchase USC merchandise with a new logo and sell it throughout the year.   The logo should incorporate (one or all) USC, Panthers, Football etc. within it.   If you or someone you know is artistically inclined (don't forget the kids), consider drafting or sketching the 2013 design to be used on the 2013 USC football merchandise.   The contest is not limited to football families—so if you know anyone who is artistically inclined and might be interested, please pass this along to them.   Your creation could be embedded in USC apparel forever! If you have any interest in submitting a design, we need to receive it by March 8, 2013.   We will accept sketches in just about any form—even hand sketched in pencil!   The winning designer will receive a $50 Gift Card and "FREE" football apparel showing the award winning design.   Thank you in advance for your support.

Nutrition and Mouthguard Care Reminders

OK, it's about halfway through the regular season and who remember's Leslie Bonci's talk on nutrition?  Don't fret, as Denise Tancredi has graciously summarized Leslie's speech on a one page cheat sheet (see handout below).  Also, if you've forgotten how to care for your player's customized, fitted, mouth guards, here is the information on how to care for them: Wash with soap and lukewarm water; do not soak in alcohol or mouthwash containing alcohol,; do not brush with toothbrush; and store in the case that was included with mouth guard. If your son is using last year’s—the care instructions remain the same!

Coupon Card Pre-sale / Sale Information

Most of the boys have received an envelope with information for this year’s coupon card sale. If your son has not received his envelope, he will receive it this week (if he attends conditioning). If your son has not been present at conditioning and/or has not received a coupon card envelope of information, please contact Erin Parker at 412-951-4300 or to arrange to get it.

Pre-selling now is the most effective method for maximizing sales. Use the Flyer and the Pre-Sale sheet (see Handout) to show what the card offers and keep track of the people who purchase it. You can accept payment for the card in advance (mark the sheet as paid) and tell the buyers that the boys will deliver the cards to them the morning of Aug 10th. They also have personalized thank you notes included in their envelopes to pass out with the cards. All of the cards will be given to the players the morning of the 10th at 8:30 A.M., for them to sell door-to-door that day, or to deliver to those who signed up for the presale. They will bring all the money collected to the USC gym at noon and enjoy a pizza lunch and prizes. Payment by cash or check is accepted.

Checks should be made payable to USC Football Boosters. Each player’s goal is to sell a minimum 20 cards which makes him eligible for 2 free coupons cards (either to sell and keep the proceeds or to use for themselves) and to participate in drawings for cash and prizes (selling 15 enables pay to play fee to be paid by the boosters). There is also a prize for being the top seller. Let us know if you have any questions, and we will see you on Saturday, August 10th at 8:30 A.M. at the USC High School Gym. The boys should be dressed in USC Football attire.

Contact chairs Liz Smith at or Erin Parker at with questions.

Senior USC Football Players Providing a Helping Hand

A group of 17 senior USC football players provided help to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank on July 24, 2013. The 19th Annual Pittsburgh Blues Festival was held July 19-21 at the Hartwood Acres amphitheater and all proceeds benefited the Community Food Bank.

After a morning of football conditioning, the 17 Senior USC football player volunteers went to the Hartwood Acres amphitheater grounds and pulled up fence posts around the perimeter of the grounds, returned the posts to storage and stacked tables. Thank you to the Pittsburgh Community Food Bank for the opportunity to lend a hand and to all the boys who served as volunteers in their community: J.J. Conn, David Dougherty, Ben Haus, Ben Huss, Morgan Lee, Stephen Mackowick, Mike McGuire, Terry McLinden, Zack Morris, Trevor Morrow, Giuseppe Orsini, Kyle Page, Joe Pateras, Robert Plummer, Mac Pope, Joe Repischak and Ben Southorn.

"Pay to Play Fee" Resolution

This email is to confirm the resolution at the July 2013 Booster meeting regarding this year’s pay to play fees. The USC Football Boosters will pay $100 football "pay to play fee" to the Upper St. Clair School District IF:

A player sells a minimum of 15 coupon cards

B. player returns money (cash and/or checks) for the 15 cards sold on Saturday 8/10 by noon.

The Boosters will forward the list of players to the Athletic Department who are entitled to receive the credit and the boosters will pay the fee. If a family has already paid their fee, the Athletic Department will coordinate with the School District to secure reimbursement to the family. Please remember that each player’s goal is to sell all 20 cards, so that the Boosters can continue to support the team and its needs. In addition, players that sell 20 cards receive 2 free cards and are eligible for raffles and prizes on Saturday, upon their return to the high school.

***IMPORTANT NOTE***If your son does not sell 15 coupon cards for the Boosters to pay the fee, you must bring a check (for $100) made out to the Upper St. Clair School District for the Pay to Play Fee. Your child will not be permitted to participate in football camp on 8/13 if the fee is not paid prior to the start of camp. You may also choose to pay the district prior to the coupon card sale if you have concerns about his ability to sell 15 cards. Keep in mind that pre-selling is a great option to know exactly where you stand prior to the sale.

Please see the attached list of dates and where help is needed. Contact Mary Repischak or Margie Marthinsen if are you are able to help with any of these dates as soon as possible. If there is something in particular that you would like to contribute, please let me know that also. Thanks in advance for your help!
