Braves (Major): Welcome
Welcome to the UNLL Major League Braves
Hello from the 2007 Major League Braves. We are excited about what this season has in store as the Braves will attempt to go one step further than 2006. Last year marked the seventh consecutive year that the Braves have played in the championship game. Unfortunately, the game did not turn out the way we wanted as the Braves lost 9-1 to the Rockies. The team is again managed by Rudy Muniz with a high-caliber coaching staff that includes returning coaches Dick Chapman and Scott Dixon and newcomer Stan Jennings.
The 2006 season added another chapter to the team's recent success story. The 2000 Braves, led by manager Rudy Muniz, went 23-0 and captured the league title, and then followed with another championship campaign in 2001, going 20-2. The Braves also captured the league titles in 2003 & 2004. Muniz, who managed the team from 1999-2001, returned as a coach for the 2003 squad and then again manager for 2006. Chapman has managed several teams including a 2005 Major Cardinals squad that posted an impressive 19-3 record. They are joined by Dixon, who has managed and coached several teams and Jennings, who has coached with Muniz and also the last two years with the Major Cardinals including that '05 team with Chapman.
Cindy Muniz returns as team mom and is assisted by Kristi Dixon helping with team candy.
But let's look at the real stars of the 2007 Braves. Leading the way are three returning 12-year-olds. The 12-year-olds include all-stars Billy Lindenberg, Anthony Muniz and Cameron Rodriguez and newcomer Kyle Jennings. One returning 11-year-old and two returning 10-year-olds were named to the 2006 10-year-old all-star team: Nash Thorp, Jake Chapman and Caylon Rodriguez.
Back to play major roles are 11-year-olds Art Arambula, Keaton Darney, and Kienan "Stitch" Dixon.
They'll be joined by the "rookies" Kamden Darney and Conor O'Brien.
The 2007 Braves figure to display a blend of speed, defense and power. Pitching is always important and will be a key for the team. The younger players are also expected to contribute.
