Challenger baseball is a division of Little League baseball, which offers to special children a non-threatening environment to experience baseball. Our only requirement is that we insist that the children enjoy the experience and we offer siblings an opportunity to bring out the best in their brothers and sisters and offer parents participation or a few moments of needed respite
The Union Little League Challenger Division runs on Sunday Afternoons from April through June. We invite Special children from all communities to participate. We are the only Little League in our district to offer this program and registration for the challenger division is not limited to residents of Union. Each year we join several towns in a regional tournament in Paramus that not only includes Baseball but also includes a picnic and prizes for the participants through the generosity of many local charities. Our players receive Uniforms and have a convenient time set aside for our games at our modern Hickory Manor Complex.
Each year a local diner sponsors a dinner for our children and volunteers
All the children receive prizes at the end of the season In summary, our Challenger League has been in existence for more than a decade and we believe our program can offer a void in a special child's life by offering him or her the opportunity to play Little League Baseball. It is difficult to get the word out through schools and School districts so we thought we would send this memo to anyone who you would think might benefit from our program.
