UNION KNIGHTS WIN 2009 MEL OTT CHAMPIONSHIP
The Union Knights win their first Mel Ott league championship by defeating the Jersey Barons two games to one in the finals. This is the second spring championship in the history of the franchise, with the other being won in 2004 (Roy Campanella AAA). The Knights are very proud of this accomplishment, knowing full well that the competition in this league gets tougher every year. Congratulations, boys! Knights first!!!
Manager's Message
Welcome to the home of the Union Knights Baseball Club on the Internet. Captain and shortstop, Brian Cannici, has done an excellent job of designing this site and Im positive that it will serve as a source of pride as well as amusement for the team for years to come. Its hard to believe that 2008 will be our 9th year in the league. Some of our accolades during the past years include: * 12 post-season appearances, including 6 semi-finals (Spring 2001, Spring 2002, Fall 2002, Spring 2003, Spring 2004, Spring 2005) and two championships (Fall 2003 and Spring 2004). * Awards: Most Valuable Player (Dave Cannici, Fall 2000; Sam Parolise, Fall 2004), Cy Young (Alex Arribas, Fall 2002; Val Robinson, Spring 2004; Tirrell Ortiz, Spring 2005), Postseason MVP (Julio Reyes, Spring 2004) and Manager of the Year (Alex Romero, Spring 2002, 2003). But these things are not what make the Knights great. The greatness of this team stems from the common bonds we share: Friendship and a love and respect for the game. There are not many teams which existed in our inaugural season that are still around today. Even fewer are the teams that have been around as long as our team and have been consistently successful.
