Vikings lose at home to Dublin Rebels
This game was a rematch of Shamrock Bowl XXII where the Vikings came out with a two point victory. This time it was the turn of the Rebels to be on the right side of a tight scoreline. The game was the usual tough, hard-hitting smashmouth football that has dominated the growing rivalry between these two teams. The Vikings started with the ball and the Rebels defence immediately set the tone of the game with a big stop. OLB Brian Carter picked off the Vikings QB Liam Ryan with a great sideline pick, dragging his toes as he went over the line. The Rebels defence went on to record 6 turnovers during the game which killed the Vikings offense throughout the game. The Vikings D responded with some great play but gave up two TDs through the air in the 2nd quarter. Adrian Garvey, James Twomey and Colm Cronin then began to move the Vikings on the ground and Twomey punched the ball in from a yard out. The Vikings continued to push for the go ahead score but Marcus Naylor pulled in the ball in the endzone after a tip from a hail mary pass.
