Union Kids Baseball (UKB) / Hilti Park History
Timeline –
- 1988 - Union Kids Baseball, Inc. formed.
- 1988 - UKB aligns with Tulsa Kids Baseball.
- 1989 - UKB gets year-to-year lease on land owned by Hilti Corporation and installs backstops, fencing, irrigation, storage buildings and gravel parking lot.
- 1991 - UKB develops park concept and construction budget and presents it to Tulsa Parks for building a new City of Tulsa Park to accommodate UKB growth.
- 1995 - Proposal for new park and budget is approved and included in the 1996 third-penny sales tax program.
- 2000 - Project is funded and planning begins for the new park.
- 2000 - City of Tulsa negotiates with Hilti Corporation to purchase land currently leased by UKB.
- 2000 - Master Plan developed by Planning Design Group/Jim Crosby and approved by UKB and Tulsa Parks.
- 2000 - Project broken up into multiple phases due to land cost and inflation from the original budget developed in 1991.
- 2001 - Phase I of Hilti Park (7 new fields, 4 with lights) is completed in time for the spring 2002 season. Mayor Susan Savage throws out the first pitch.
- 2003 - Paved parking lot built in time for the spring 2004 season.
- 2008 – Phase II of Hilti Park (8 new fields) will be completed in time for the spring 2009 season.
