The Utah Indoor Football League will begin it's games on Sat. Nov. 15th at the Kaysville Sports plex.
Our Schedule will be up on Monday evening Nov. 3rd. This year each team will play each other once from both conferences and our playoffs will be cross play from each conference. Example: Northern team 1 will play Southern team 4, Southern team 1 will play Northern team 4, and the same will be for team 2 plays team 3.

Oct. 29th 7:00 PM Team's Last chance to register for 2008/09 season
Oct. 29th 7:00 PM at the Kaysville Sports Plex will be the last chance for the team owners to pay their team fees and register for the 2008/09. Owners, you also need to bring signed and fully completed player registration forms of your players or they will not be eligible to play this season until we have those registration forms. If we miss you then, maybe we will see you next year, good luck on putting your team and organization together for 2009/10!
2008/09 schedule will be posted Sat. Nov. 1st. 2008/09 season will begin at 5:00 PM on Nov. 8th.

UIFL Tenth Season will be played at the Sports Plex in Kaysville Utah!
The UIFL has just secured it's new home for our 10th season of play. The UIFL will be playing it's games for the 2008/09 season at the Sports Plex in Kaysville Utah.
More Info to come. Owner's don't forget that you need to have a $500.00 non-refundable team fee paid by Sept. 20th to secure your spot for this year's games in the UIFL.

***UPDATE***The UIFL will begin it's 10th year of great Indoor/Arena Style football beginning Sat. Nov. 15th
The UIFL will Announce it's new home playing field by Aug. 15th. The Olympic Oval has decided to get rid of all indoor soccer and football beginning Aug. 1st 2008.
The UIFL will have it's first 2008/09 owner's meeting Sat. Aug. 23rd. 2008 (time and place will be announced soon).

The Utah Youth Indoor Football League's First Registration for the 2009 Season will be held on Nov. 15th 2008, 9am to 1pm at the Kaysville SportsPlex.(1188 Sportsplex Dr.) West Kaysville.

UIFL 2008 Playoff Schedule
The first round of the UIFL 2008 playoffs will begin Feb. 16th 2008 at 6:30 PM. This will consist of the top 4 teams of each conference. In each conference, team 1 will play team 4 and team 2 will play team 3.
On Feb. 23rd 2008 we will hold our Conference Championships. These games will start at 7:00 PM.
On March 8th 2008 we will hold our UIFL 2008 Championship Game. This game will start at 8:00 PM.
Check back often to our website starting Sunday Feb. 3rd for the teams and start times of our Playoffs, Conference Championship and our UIFL 2008 "Indoor War" Championship game.

The Professional Indoor football team the Utah Saints will be holding an Open Try-Out on Jan. 26th 2008 at the Olympic Oval in Kearns, Utah.
Registration will be from 6:00 to 6:30 PM
Cost $50.00 Cash or Money Orders Only! ($20.00 of your $50.00 paid will be credited to your 2009 UIFL players fees.)
Jersey, shorts and astro turf shoes, no equipment needed!

The UIFL will use AIFA rules and the AIFA ball for the 2007/08 season
UIFL CEO Michael Curran, has decided to use the AIFA Rules as well as the AIFA football as the official UIFL football for all 2007/08 games. With the recent alliance with the AIFA ,it makes perfect sense to start using and learning the AIFA rules this year, as I'm sure that most of our top players will be playing in the AIFA Utah teams.
It also makes sense that our Indoor / Arena Football oficials get the oppertunity to put these rules into play as most of our officials will be officiating in the Utah AIFA games. Most of our officials have been officiating Indoor / Arena football for 10 years now.
The AIFA ball is a great ball, it has excellent grip for our players and the fans love the way the ball looks as it flies through the air toward the endzone! The new game ball will be provided by the UIFL for use in all official UIFL games. If any team would like to purchase these balls for practice please contact Mr. Curran.

Last Owners Meeting Before The UIFL 2007/08 Season Kicks Off !!!
Mandatory Owners meeting at the Olympic Oval, Thursday October 18th 7:00PM
If you are a team owner or coach and you want to have a team in the UIFL 2007/08 season, you must be at this meeting to register your team. All teams must have at least one half of your players fees turned in at this meeting to qualify for the 07/08 season that starts on Nov. 17th 2007. The remainder of your players fees are due by Nov. 10th, if you miss this cut off, you could forfiet your first game of the season.
At this meeting we will also discuss the new AIFA rules that will be used for our 07/08 season. We will also discuss, the formation of the first Utah AIFA team, that will come out of the UIFL and will play it's games at the Olympic Oval, starting the last week of March or the first week of April 2008.

UIFL CEO Michael Curran, Acquires AIFA Pro Indoor Football Utah Franchises!
UIFL CEO Michael Curran, has acquired the Utah Franchise rights from the AIFA (American Indoor Football Association) a Professional Indoor Football League. Mr Curran has already made contracts with the Golden Spike Arena (Harrisville, UT.) and the Olympic Oval in Kearns, UT. to place a Professional team from the AIFA in each venue beginning the end of March or early April of 2008.

State of Utah exclusive rights to market teams

The American Indoor Football Association a professional indoor football league is hereby granting Mr. Michael Curran the exclusive rights to foster, discuss (as per AIFA requirements) and field teams in the State of Utah for their league. In order to protect valuable indoor football markets within that state as well as protecting territories and facilities used by Michael Curran and/or the Utah Indoor Football League past or current the AIFA agrees to the following.
1) Allow Michael Curran to recruit investors and potential team owners for memembership in the AIFA Western Division in the state of Utah.
2) Allow Michael Curran to research and recruit arenas in the State of Utah.
3) Set a goal of a minimum of three AIFA membership territories within the state of Utah for 2008 and 2009 seasons.
4) Build working relations to foster and add new teams to the AIFA Western Division in the future.
This agreement is in place and bound until at which time the AIFA western division has quit accepting applications for teams for the 2008 and 2009 season. The AIFA enters into this agreement with Michael Curran due to his great expertise as an ambassador in the sport as well as him being one of the founding fathers of professional indoor football.

‘Etikeni Samani
Trichelle Valgardson Samani and ‘Etikeni Samani of Provo were tragically taken from us in an unforeseen accident on Monday, September 3, 2007.
Trichelle was born in Provo, Utah March 20, 1986 to David and Michelle Valgardson of Provo, Utah. She is the only sister of Joshua (Ashley) Valgardson, nephew Andrew Valgardson, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Jeremy (Rachel) Valgardson of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Kyle Valgardson and Tyler Valgardson of Provo, Utah; and the granddaughter of Ardis Rowley of Provo, Utah.Trichelle was raised in Provo and graduated from Provo High School where she played basketball, softball, volleyball and “powder puff” football. Her favorite, of course, being basketball. Her love of sport did not end there. She has had major knee surgery, but that did not stop her from doing what she loved. She continued to play basketball and softball with her friends and family until the end. She loved life to the fullest. She has so many friends, too many to name, and she was always there when you needed her. She was enrolled at Utah Valley University, scheduled to graduate with a degree in accounting in 2009. She was employed at BJ Plumbing, a job she loved due to the friends she made there. Trichelle has a very strong love for the Savior which showed in all that she did. She was currently serving as a primary teacher in her ward. She also loved working with the youth. She always felt like she was one of the girls and loved to be around them. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and for the love she showed to everyone. Trichelle will be missed by a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins who all loved her dearly. She joins those who have gone before her: Grandpa Paul and Grandma Florence Valgardson, Grandpa Revo Rowley, Aunts Mary Valgardson McEuen and Sarah Valgardson.
‘Etikeni was born in Vava’u, Tonga April 26, 1985 to Totauola and Talite Samani of Provo, Utah. He is the brother of Viliami T. Samani, Ikani T. Samani, Nolan R.T. Samani, Weston T. Samani, Silongo T. Samani and Martha T. Samani, all of Provo, Utah and the grandson of Kafea Sungalu and Lea’aepine Lavulavu of Provo, Utah. When ‘Eti was three years old his family moved to Utah from Tonga. He went to Franklin Elementary, Dixon Middle School and Provo High School. He played football while at Provo High and after graduation at Snow College. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and served in the California Oakland Mission. ‘Etikeni is so special for everything he did for our family. He was a hard worker, laying concrete with his Dad and working for Valgardson House Movers. He, like Trichelle, had a very strong love for the Savior. He worked with the youth at the time of his passing. He loved them all very much. He was very kind and spoke to them with dignity and respect; always encouraging them to do their best.
‘Eti and Trichelle were married for time and all eternity in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple on July 22, 2006. Their love for each other was apparent to anyone who knew them. God speed, Trichelle and ‘Eti, until we meet again. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Provo Utah Wasatch (Tongan) Stake Center, 1625 South Slate Canyon Drive, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 7-10 p.m. and Saturday from 8-9:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to info@bergmortuary.com.

Mandatory UIFL 2007/08 Season Owner's Meeting set for Sept. 7th at 7:PM
The 2007/08 mandatory team registration owners meeting will be held Sept. 7th 2007, at 7 PM at the Olympic Oval in Kearns Utah. Team owners and head coaches only at this meeting please. All team owners need to bring their uniform colors for league approval.
At this meeting, each team will be required to bring a $500.00 non-refundable team registration down payment for your team. Players fees this year will be $110.00 per player. The remaining team players fees will be Due Oct. 15th, 2007 (no exceptions this year!!) Min. team roster is 20 players, Max. team roster is 35 players.
The UIFL 2007/08 season will begin the first week of November!
New teams and existing teams must RSVP to League CEO Michael Curran at 801-601-5556 before attending this meeting.

The Utah Crush defeated the Scorpions 35 to 21, in front of a packed house at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns Utah. The Utah Crush are our new UIFL Champions! Congratulations to coach George Lee and the whole Crush team for a great battle and their 2007 Utah Indoor Football League Championship win!

"Thank You" & Update on Michael Curran
I want to personally thank all of you that have been concerned about Michael these past few weeks. Thank you for the flowers, cards, visits, phone calls, inquiries at the games, expressions of love and good wishes, and especially the prayers on his behalf. I am happy to report that he is finally turning the corner to recovery and is getting stronger every day. Michael is looking forward to being strong enough to attend the Championship game between The Scorpions and The Crush on the 24th! It looks to be an awesome game to bring the 2006-07 season to a close! Michael plans on focusing his energy to make the league even bigger and better for 2007-08 and beyond! Thank you for being patient these past few weeks as he has tried to manage through his illness. In Memory of Brett Ericksen

Brett Kendall Ericksen 1/21/1979 ~ 1/22/2007 Brett was taken from this life
suddenly and unexpectedly in a fatal car accident. He leaves a family who
loves him, friends who adore him, business associates who respect him and
kids who idealize him. He was currently running a wonderful entertainment
project at Sundance Film Festival. Brett has always had a creative mind and
uninhibited ambition. He never settled for second rate and always tried to
see, have, and be the best. Brett had a heart the size of a lion, so tender,
so much the guardian of the meek and defender of the underdog. He never had
a bad thing to say about anyone, defended his family and friends to the end
and would give anyone anything if they needed it and he had it. Brett has
always had a gift of making people laugh. Since he was a child he was the
unofficial entertainer. He was always funny and would say things no one else
could pull off, but when he said it, it was funny. He had a gift for meeting
people and making them a friend. He was a disciplined body builder, creative
and innovative thinker and a thoughtful son. Brett was a true family man
that never had a chance to have his own family. He loved being with his
family, no matter the occasion. He was always there for his sisters, his
brothers, his mom and his dad and loved his nieces and nephews. Raised in
Utah, he was a talented artist, gifted athlete and a true entrepreneur. He
was all state football at Northridge High and all Conference linebacker at
Snow College. He was on the United States Olympic Bobsled sled team and rode
as forerunner in the 2002 Olympics. He painted an Olympic mural that sold
hundreds of special edition copies. He founded and ran Laser Care Clinic,
developed a commercial real estate association and founded Ericksen
Entertainment which is currently hosting the Celebrity Media Center in Park
City for the Sundance Film Festival. Brett was an Eagle Scout and had a
great testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a
Christ-like heart. We don't know if he was called on the mission he never
had here on earth, but we do know that he will not sit idly by, but will be
working hard, as always, to make all his family proud of him. We pray he
knows how proud we are of him and his accomplishments and how much we love
him. and how much we will miss him. He is survived by his mother, Laurie
(Alan) Ralphs, his dad, Corey (Liz) Ericksen, his brother, Shane (Amber)
Ericksen, and sisters, Kimberly (Gustavo) Dalanhese and Jamie (Steve) Smith.

Mr. Vince Tauanuu: named as Vice President of the UIFL.
Vincent Tauanuu has just accepted the position of Vice President of the Utah Indoor Football League.
For those of you that don't know Mr. Tauanuu, here are a few of his accomplishments in football and some of his current assignments.

"UIFL Free Agent Player Rights".
It looks like we will have 16 or more teams this year in the UIFL. With all the teams recruiting players for their team, there has been a very important question that has come up. What free agent rights does a player have and what player ownership rights does a team owner have.
I must say this first, in the intermountain area team owners must remember that a lot of the football players play year around in various leagues with each other,ie. RMFL,UIFL and various flag football teams. These players build relationships with each other and that may lead a player to a certain team in a certain league. However, some players play on different teams in all three leagues and play against each other. Therefore that is why the UIFL has this rule for free agent players.
The UIFL league rule on player's right's states: That if a player signs his registration form for that year/season with his team name on the form, the player is bound to that team for that season. If a player wants to play for another team that same season he has to get the team owner's approval to be released. If the owner won't release the player, the player will have to sit out the season until next season when the player will become a free agent and can sign with whatever team he chooses.

Charge Your UIFL Player's Fee To Your Credit Card Now!
You can now charge your UIFL player's fee to your credit card if want a couple of extra months to pay it off. Go to the top left hand side of our front page where it says, "Register online for our events" click on that tab and it will take you to a Eteamz secure site to pay for your UIFL player's fee with a credit card.
The league office will then be sent an email that same day, that you have completed your registration form and we will notify your team owner/coach immediately.
Curtis Jones "CJ" memorial and pictures.
On August 5, 2001 the Jones family, The Utah Lyonzz and the rest of the world lost a great father of four, loyal loving husband, warm hearted son and the best friend you could ask for. Curtis "Franchise" Jones (34) collapsed from possible heart failure after a Semi-Final game in the USIFL. Curtis also known as C.J. by many, was a picture perfect athlete and football player. A man of such athletic stature not likely to fall to such an early heart attack. C.J. was also a coach at Granger High School and a behavior disorder assistant. His positive presence and great smile will live on through our hearts and memories. For those of you who may want to make a donation to C.J.'s wife and children there is a trust fund set up at all Granite Credit Unions and Wells Fargo locations (Curtis Jones Fund).

Every time a football player goes to play his trade he's got to play from the ground up-from the soles of his feet right up to his head. Every inch of him has to play.Some guys play with their heads. That's O.K. You've got to be smart to be number one in any business. But more importantly, you've got to play with your heart, with every fiber of your body. If you're lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he's never going to come off the field second.Running a football team is no different than running any other kind of organization, an army, a political party or a business. The principles are the same. The object is to win. To beat the other guy. Maybe that sounds hard or cruel. I don't think it is.It is a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive games draw the most competitive men. That's why they are there. To compete. To know the rules and objectives when they get in the game. The object is to win fairly, squarely, by the rules-but to win. And in truth, I've never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, didn't appreciate the grind, the discipline.There is something in good men that really yearns for discipline and the harsh reality of head to head combat.I don't say these things because I believe in the "brute" nature of man or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious.
