-- Each family will be required to serve as a "Hall Monitor" during at least one game during the season.  Hall Monitors are expected to keep all children in the gyms.  If there is any damage, disturbance or fire alarms pulled, gym time could be cut back or eliminated by the school principal.  The school district controls the gysm usage.  The coaches will provide Hall Monitor assignments.  We need and appreciate your cooperation

--Missing practices and games to play other sports disrupts our programs.  The UDJAA and UD Soccer Club have agreed that Basketball is the "in season" sport for the winter months.  If you are playing another sport this winter, and a conflict arises, then in fairness to teammates and coaches, we strongly recommend that you don't sign up for UDJAA Basketball or Cheerleading.  Please read rules that apply to our high school age groups below.

--No food, drinks, or pets are permitted on school property or in the gyms.

--Per the school district, there is no ROLLLER BALL sneakers allowed in the schools.

--No unsupervised children are allowed at the games and/or practices.

BEFORE SIGNING UP A HIGH SCHOOL AGE PLAYERS YOU MUST READ THE RESTRICTIONS BELOW

Update as of October 2, 2013 -

Thanks to the discussions and mutual cooperation between the UDJAA and the school district and their coaches a successful compromise has been reached.  High school age players playing high school spring sports will be allowed to play UDJAA winter sports.  In addition, high school JV players,  playing boys and girls high school basketball, and not swinging on Varsity, will be allowed to play in the winter UDJAA basketball program.  However, we ask that you please find your particular sport below for more details as there are slight differences in beliefs between high school coaches  The UDJAA greatly appreciates the cooperation of the high school coaches in this matter.

History:

There were some problems in the last few years where some high school coaches were discouraging kids to participate in outside school programs (including UDJAA) once the player made their high school team and started their season.  This led to major problems in the high school age UDJAA programs because kids were essentially being forced to drop out of their UDJAA activity before their UDJAA season was over.  Some teams, after losing those players, struggled to field enough players to finish their seasons.  in addition, the loss of those players caused some teams to drop from being one of the best teams in the league to one of the worst.  This wasn't fair to those players that did not have high school team conflicts.

In order to play in our winter UDJAA prgram it must be your primary sport for the winter season.  However, high school practices and games will always take precedent over UDJAA activities.   If you cannot live up to that commitment we ask that you don't sign up for a UDJAA winter sport.  UDJAA has an agreement with the UD Soccer Club that players are to give priority to the in-season sport if they play more than one sport in a season and have conflicts.  That would mean Soccer in the fall, UDJAA winter sports in the winter, and UDJAA spirng sports in the spring.  This is not optional for players and parents and was started so players could play in more than one sport in a given season without being pressured to be in two places at the same time.  Soccer is only an example. This applies to any winter sport or activity where there may be conflicts. Again, if you can't or don't want to live up to this commitment we ask that you don't sign up. If you abuse the policy we will prohibit you from registering in the future.

1)  High School Boys Basketball -  Varsity players and JV swing players may not play in our UDJAA program without the permission of the high school coach.   The coach would discourage JV players from playing in our program, but will ultimately allow the player and their parents to make that decision without fear of punishment for doing so.  However, we strongly suggest that you sign up if you are looking for a place to play in case you don't make a JV or Varsity high school basketball team.  If you wait until high school cuts are made the leagues will probably be full already.  Anyone making the JV or Varsity basketball teams will be given a full refund if they withdraw within one week of high school teams being selected.

2)  High School Girls Basketball - Varsity players and JV swing players may not play in our UDJAA program without the permission of the high school coach.  Other JV players may play.

3)  High School Spring Softball - no restrictions to play in UDJAA but cannot miss a high school softball team event because of a UDJAA activity.  UDJAA Note:  There should never be a conflict between the two because of the times they are held.

4)  High School Boys Spring Volleyball - Varsity and JV player can play in winter or spring UDJAA activities as long as it doesn't interfere with the high school practices and games.

5)  High School Boys Baseball - Varsity and JV players may participate in winter and spring UDJAA sports as long as it doesn't interfere with the high school practices and games.  UDJAA Note:  There should not be a conflict between the two because of the times they are held.

6)  High School Girls Track - Varsity and JV players can play in winter or spring UDJAA activities as long as it doesn't interfere with high school practices or meets.

7)  High School Boys Tennis -  Varsity and JV may participate in winter and spring UDJAA sports as long as it doesn't interfere with high school practices and games.  UDJAA Note:  There should never be a conflict between the two because of the times they are held.

8)  High School Girls Lacrosse -   Varsity and JV may participate in winter and spring UDJAA sports as long as it doesn't interfere with high school practices and games.  UDJAA Note:  There should never be a conflict between the two because the of the times they are held.

9)  High School Boys Lacrosse - Varsity and JV players would be discouraged to play UDJAA winter sports by the coach, however, ultimately the coach would leave that decision to the player and parents without fear of punishment if they choose to do so.

10) There have been no issues up to this time with any other sports.

Again, thank you to the high school coaches for their cooperation.  If you have any questions regarding anything above please email us at info@udjaa.com or call 215-628-0666 box 3.

Thank you for your understanding!

UDJAA
