News: Raiders win divisional match up

Raiders win divisional match up
In this eagerly anticipated divisional match-up, the Newcastle Raiders struck first when WR Richard Green caught a 10 yard pass from QB Carlos Dator. Raiders RB Rob Lochrie scored the 2PAT with a 3 yard run. In the second quarter, the Raiders doubled their lead when Dator managed to connect with TE Ed Tate from 5 yards out. The 2PAT failed, and the Sharks took over on offence again. After some nice plays from the Sharks O, TE James Tait managed to break free of the Newcastle secondary and run 20 yards for the score. The 2PAT was converted by the feet of Ian Rogers, playing in his first ever competitive American Football game. Despite the Sharks rallying from this score, they could not make the defensive pressure count, and the score at half time remained 14-8. The Raiders scored their final TD of the day to seal the victory with Lochrie breaking free after some excellent blocking to scamper 50 yards for the score. The 2PAT failed, and the score finished at 20-8.
