Sharks lose season opener to Lancaster
A clement day in Hull was the setting for the first game of the Sharks 20th season in BCAFL vs the Lancaster Bombers. After a defensive stand-off, the Bombers struck first by returning a fumbled pitch 18 yards for the touchdown. The PAT snap was awry, leaving the holder to be tackled, and the score at 6-0. It remained this way until after the half when, after good pressure from the Sharks D-line, including crushing pressure and sacks by DT RJ Stockdale, DE Mark Wilson forced an erratic pass from the Bombers QB which was intercepted by OLB Michael Frazer and returned 32 yards for the touchdown. Wilbur Trip Grant ran in the two point conversion to make the score 8-6 to the home team.
The defensive struggle continued until the fourth quarter where, after a fumble by the Sharks offence, The Bombers were left with excellent field position on the Sharks 15. After a successful drive, the Bombers scored through a one yard run from Jack Turner. The 2PAT was successfully converted by Woo Kim. Despite a valiant effort from both Sharks offence and defence, the scored remained 14-8.
