The 2012 University of Connecticut at Avery Point season will begin on March 9, 2012 in Vero Beach, Florida. UCAP is scheduled to play 10 games in Vero Beach Sports Complex to kick-off our 46 game regular schedule. Our 36 game New England schedule starts March 17th vs Bunker Hill C.C. and concludes April 29, 2012 vs Monroe College.
Along with our expectations of being competive on the field, 24 of our player roster was also competitive in the classroom, with a team 3.17 GPA for the Fall 2011 semester.
2012 UCAP BASEBALL PREVIEW
The 2012 University of Connecticut at Avery Point
Baseball season will begin on March 9, 2012 in Vero Beach, Florida. UCAP is scheduled to play 11 games in
Dodgertown to kick-off our 49 game regular schedule. Our 38 game New England
schedule starts on March 18th vs Northern Essex C.C. and concludes
on April 29th vs Monroe College.
Highlights on our schedule are our NJCAA Division II New
England rivals Community College of Rhode Island and Dean College, along with 4
games with NJCAA Division I opponent Monroe College from the Bronx, NY. Also
highlighted are NJCAA Division III games vs Massasoit C.C. and Holyoke C.C., along
with NCAA games vs, Salve Regina University, Eastern Connecticut State
University, Southern New Hampshire, Springfield College and Franklin Pierce
College. The NJCAA Division II New England playoff will once again
be a best-of-three playoff between the top two seeded teams in New England
(Region 21), to be played May 4-6, 2012 hosted by the Number 1 seed. The winner will advance to the three-team East
District Tournament, between the Champions from Regions 21, 3, 15, to be played
on May 12-13, 2012, and hosted by Region 21 New England Champions. The East District winner will advance to the
NJCAA Division II World Series in Enid, Oklahoma at the David Allen Memorial
Ballpark, May 26th-June 2nd.
The 2012 UCAP baseball team will be led by 13 returning players. Leading the list are 2011 All-New England
selection; pitcher, Erik Morse, pitcher, Nick Fessenden [6-0 record], pitcher, Rob Rizzitelli [record 4-2], centerfielder, Ryan Brahm [.340 BA, 14 SB’s], 1B, Mike
Habzda [.312 BA, team
leading 13 doubles, 4 triples and 4 HR’s], 3B, Mike Perry [.295
BA], C/SS, Yuta Okazaki [.289 BA], OF/IF, Ian Ratchford [.284 BA], OF, Don
Miller [.228 BA]. Also expected to play key roles are: 2B Eric
Stenger, OF, Flynn Donovan, pitcher, Peter
Baranski, pitcher, Mike Gross.
Freshman

2012 24 player UCAP baseball roster not only is a talented team on the field,
but also in the classroom. The team GPA for the Fall 2011 semester is 3.17 with
15 players with a 3.0 GPA or above. Our
