Patriot Youth Lacrosse League
2009 Season - New Boys League Welcome to the 2009 Season. This spring there will be a number of changes that we believe will strengthen our program and advance the development of lacrosse in Tewksbury. These include:
· The boys will be playing in the Patriot Youth Lacrosse League. This new league was formed this fall and will include Groton Dunstable, Tewksbury, Harvard, Burlington, Waltham, Littleton, Dracut, Tyngsboro, Andover and Lincoln-Sudbury. o All teams competing on Sundays will be competively balanced by their respective programs as determined by a parity round o The season will begin with a parity round of short games to identify teams that are comparable in skill for scheduling purposes. The objectives are to avoid lopsided games, and in any given game either team could win o The games will start later in the Spring in mid April and end mid June. There will be 8 games played on Sundays and up to 4 midweek games scheduled towards the later parts of the season o The PYLL games at the U11 level will be 7 players vs. 7 players on a modified (shorter) field that at the younger levels is superior for developing skills and knowledge of the sport
o Scores will be kept but not for the purpose of standings. There are no standings or playoffs. They will be submitted to the league to monitor parity and adjust game schedules if need be. Also, if a game ends in a tie sudden death overtime periods of 4 minutes will be played. If a team does not score during this period the games will end in a tie. It promises to be exciting.
