What a day Sunday. Starting off with an impressive 11-1 victory over over
the good-hitting Renegades Purple, the Titans continued on with another
Comeback Kids thriller... In the semi-finals against the Vipers, down by 2 in
the last inning, the Comeback Kids began the inning with three straight
singles to load the bases. Will walks on four pitches to pick up the RBI.
Ty then steps up to the plate and delivers a rocket to right, smashing the
fence (on the fly) knocking in 2 RBI's and stealing the 10-9 victory!
In the Championship Game, the Titans faced the always-tough Banditos White.
The Titans scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning and led 4-0 going to the bottom
of the 3rd. The White picked up 4 to tie it up, then followed with 3 in the
4th inning. Final score White 7 - Titans 4 in 6 innings. Great tourney guys!

Pool Play
Saturday, Mar. 19th vs Deer Park Rockhounds
The Titans started off the tournament against the Rockhounds in a defensive battle. Through 4 innings, the Rockhounds held the powerful Titan offense to just 2 runs, with the score 2-1. In the final two innings the Titans bats came alive, picking up 8 runs on 8 hits to close out a 10-5 victory in the first pool play game. Solid pitching performances by Cody and Dylan. JayRock led the way offensively going 3 for 3 with a walk and scoring 2 runs. Clay pitched in, going 2-2 and knocking in 3 rbi's.
Saturday, Mar. 19th vs Texas Tornados
Game 2 had the Titans facing the very tough Texas Tornados. The Tornados elected to be the Visitors and it didn't take long to realize why. In the top of the first, the Titan defense struggled to make the routine plays, committing 4 errors, 2 walks and 1 single and before you knew it, the Tornados were all over the Titans 6-1 after the first inning! During the next two innings, the pitching (great job Will) and defense took control, with the Titans scoring 1 run and the Tornados putting up 2 more runs. Heading into the bottom of the 4th inning, the Titans were in a major hole, trailing 9-2. After two quick outs and no runs in, it was time for the Titan bats to come alive (down by 7 with only 4 outs remaining in the game). With Dylan on base with a walk, Jay and Bryan singled, scoring Dylan. Big Cody steps up to the plate and smashed a 2 run triple to the center field fence, making the score 9-6 after 4 innings. The defense stepped up and kept the Tornados scoreless in the top of the final inning. The Titans trailed by 3 runs and down to their final 3 outs... Clay starts off the inning with a single, Kyle follows up with a tomahawk triple to right center scoring Clay. After Dylan walks on 4 pitches, Ty and Jay follow up with back-to-back singles to tie the game at 9. With one out and the winning runner (Ty) standing 46 feet away, Bryan steps to the plate and smashes the first pitch to 2nd, scoring Ty! Great come-from-behind 10-9 victory. Will pitched 2 strong innings, while Clay closed out the final four innings.
After going 2-0 in pool play, the Titans were seeded #3, matching up to play the #6 seed Predators (from Manvel).
Championship Bracket
Sunday, Mar. 20 vs Manvel Predators
Corey stepped onto the mound against a powerful Predator team and shut them down for 2 2/3 innings, picking up 4 strikeouts and allowing only two Predators to reach 3rd base. Clay came in and closed the door, pitching the final 1 1/3 inning allowing only 1 hit and preserving the shutout. Great pitching, great defense boys! On the offensive side, the Titans struggled in 3 out of the 4 innings. However, the Titans piled up 6 runs in 2nd inning. Key RBI hits by Ty, Jay and Bryan. Final score, Titans 6 - Predators 0
Sunday, Mar. 20 vs Deer Park Rockhounds
Next up for the Titans was a rematch with the Rockhounds. Cody pitched the complete game, allowing only 1 run on 3 hits. The bats came alive with 8 hits and a huge 6-run 4th inning. Jay, Kyle and Dylan stepped up with 2 hits each to pound out an 8-1 victory, sending our boys to the Championship game!!!
Championship
Sunday, Mar. 20 vs Houston Hawks
The last time the Titans had faced the Hawks, the Hawks prevented our Titans from making it to the Championship game in the Crosby tournament. Time for a little payback.
The Titans scored in each of the first 4 innings, keeping the score 6-0 after 4. Great pitching by Bryan (4 shutout innings) and Clay results in a 6-2 tournament championship victory.
Congrats to the Houston Hawks, great tournament and World Series berth, we'll see you in Southaven.
--- interesting fact #1 - In the Championship Bracket (3 games) the Titans only gave up a total of 3 runs. Great pitching/stingy defense!!!
--- interesting fact #2: The Titans have advanced to the Championship game in 3 out of their last 4 tournaments.

Great tournament Titans. The Titans made it to the Championship game of the Cy-Fair Spring Break tourney against the Banditos White. The Titans and Banditos were tied 5-5 after 2 innings until the Banditos scored 4 in the 3rd. Both defenses played well in the remaining 3 innings as the Banditos prevailed 11-7.
Earlier in the day, the Titans had a rematch with the good-hitting HBA Jays. The Jays jumped out to an early 5-0 lead but the Titans fought back with an 8-run 4th inning to win 11-5 and advance to the semis.
In the semis, the Titans faced the Banditos Silver. After 4 great defensive innings, the score was tied 2-2. In the 5th, the Titans batted around using 4 singles and 3 walks to score 5 runs and put the game out of reach, winning 7-2 to advance to the final. Way to go Titans!
