Twisters finished in the top 7 at the ASA Northern Nationals
With the lost of Abbie and Mallory due to illiness and injury the Twisters pulled into Bloomington pretty shorthanded. The team really came together and put a string of wins together which put the Twisters in the final day of play. But the wear and tear of playing shorthanded over the last 3 weeks finally caught up with the gritty Twisters and a final 4 berth was not to be. We are saying goodbye to two great long time Twister players Meg Teller and Kelsey Mullen along with one year player Abbie Tolen who now will start their college careers this fall. Once a Twisted sister, always a Twisted sister! Good Luck

Northern Illinois Lightning Summer Bash
With the rain Friday we were reduced to 1 pool game to determine how to seed the bracket play starting Saturday afternoon. We were playing againist the River Rock Rage and it was looking bleak going into the 5th inning down 0-3, we had a leadoff triple in the bottom of the 5th from Meg Teller who then scored on a sac by Abbie Tolan and this was followed up by a blast from Megan Mitchell that one bounced to the base of the 300' fence for a in the park home run to cut the lead to 1. In the bottom of the 7th the Twisters resorted to small ball and was able to get Katie McCool and Meg Teller on with with bunts, then Sarah McIIrath had a doulble to tie the game. The Rage elected to intentionally walk Megan (after a 275+ shot before that was the right thing to do) Brooke Jordan hoisted a fly ball to left which allowed Meg to easily score on the tag up for the Twister win! We will start bracket play at 6:15pm Saturday againist the Wisconsin Bandits.

Twisters play tough in Toledo
Our Twisters played tough and took 3rd (of 44 teams) in Toledo, loosing 4-1 to the Buffalo New York Elite in our 4th game on Sunday. Overall, this was the best competition we have seen all year, and we surprised many very good teams. It was great to have Coach Brooke for this one, joining us from Pennsylvania!!

Twisters 5th at Nashville Music City Hits Invitational
Congratulations on some huge wins in bracket play to finish 5th at this incredible tournament. The 8 inning battle with the Texas Glory (previous Colorado Fireworks winner) was the best medicine we could have asked for after playing in a talent packed pool. Seeing that 4 teams from our pool reached the final 8 and that the Chattanooga Fillys were crowned 2006 Tournament Champions was great. Now on to Denver. Let the fireworks begin!!

Twisters finish 5th at AFA Nationals in Olathe Kansas 7/26-7/31
Our Twister Sisters were on a mission at AFA Nationals and were only denied a top 4 finish by a pair of 1-0 losses to the 2nd place Olathe Rockets. Congratulations to the Stone City Marlins on winning the AFA national championship after finishing third in our pool. Our 8-0 pool play victory over them in this tournament will always be a game for us to remember. Our Twisters really played like champions this week and we look forward to more of the same next year as we remain at 16U with 11 returning players. Thanks to all the players, parents and coaches for making this year the best so far!
Twisters Win Martinsville AFA/USFA QualifierJuly 9-10
Scoring 71 runs while giving up only 2 runs in this this tournament was phenomenol. It was great to see you all sticking to your game even when the scores were lopsided. You displayed great pitching and defense to go along with the high powered offense. Since we were already qualified for Nationals, our bid will be passed down to the second place Illinois Thunder.

Heatin' It Up NSA Qualifier June4-6, Cincinnati Ohio
Our Twisters plowed through a field of 18 teams (and a million cicadas) in Cincinnati this weekend scoring 56 runs and giving up only 8 runs while becoming the Tournament Champions. The entire team contributed and showed alot of team spirit in every game. Starting with 15 Ohio teams, 1 Kentucky team, and 2 Indiana teams it came down to an "all Indiana" final as we played the Indy Diamond Chix in the 7-3 championship game. Alan was speechless by Sunday due to his laryngitis from all the excitment!
