Tuesday, September 11 Former TVBR alum, left handed pitcher Erick Threets, gets called up to Majors! Threets' treat: Erick Threets, a seventh-round draft selection in 2001 and a former TVBR Athletic, has been called up to the big club. Threets endured injuries through many of his seven seasons in the Giants' system. Shoulder surgery sidelined him for all of 2004; a strained shoulder prevented him from being called up last September. Threets also experienced a different kind of pain -- the growing pains common to young, hard-throwing left-handers. Although he could throw his fastball 100 mph, he didn't always know where it was going. Now, the 25-year-old has sacrificed velocity to gain command. "I've been through a lot, with injuries, control, confidence -- all of the stereotypical stuff that a hard thrower goes through," he said. Erick was an instructer at last years Tri-Valley Babe Ruth clinic. We wish him well and hope he gets a shot at showing what he's got!
