Welcome to the Tualatin Youth Baseball website

Letter from our President:

Welcome to Tualatin Youth Baseball!

Tualatin Youth Baseball is pleased to introduce our 2010 baseball season.

We will be continuing our successful and widely popular T-Ball and Pioneer programs with little changes.

The rest of our baseball association teams will be playing Junior Baseball in the Clackamas County Junior Baseball Association. Teams are selected by age (9-10 Midgets, 11-12 Juniors, and 13-14 Seniors) and skill level (Federal, American, and National) after players try-out and are evaluated.

Junior Baseball provides a framework for youth to develop and refine their basic skills within a team oriented environment. The program stresses continuity in age grouping, competition at equal levels of ability, a progression in playing distances (the fields get bigger as the players progress), and teaches the complete game of baseball (leading off, stealing, and holding runners). Best of all, when it comes time for post season play, a team goes as a unit, without the heartbreak, and sometimes unjust All-Star selection process.

ALL OUR PLAYERS have the opportunity to advance to District and State tournaments with a chance to succeed at their playing level.

The Tualatin Youth Baseball board continues to evaluate our association to ensure that all players have the greatest opportunity to develop their skill level through clinics, coaching, and league play. If you have suggestions or would like to volunteer to help in any way, please contact a member of the board.

We look forward to seeing you at the ballpark!

Darrell Pizer
Tualatin Youth Baseball President

General Information

Tualatin Youth Baseball offers playing opportunities to boys and girls ages 5-14. The “baseball age” of a player is generally determined by the player’s age on July 31st of the year of the baseball season. The divisions are broken down as follows:

Division

Age Level
Tee-ball 5 – 7
Pioneer 7 – 8
Midget 9 – 10
Juniors 11 – 12
Seniors 13 – 14

Softball: Girls 5-14 wishing to play softball/tee-ball  should contact Tualatin Fastpitch Softball Association at: http://www.tualatinsoftball.org or Tualatin City Little League Softball at: http://www.tualatincitysoftball.com.

Tualatin Youth Baseball is not associated with either Tualatin City Little League or Tualatin Fastpitch Softball Association.

Tee-Ball: Players ages 5 to 7 are eligible to play tee-ball. All tee-ball games are played in Tualatin. There are no tryouts for the Tee-Ball level. Tee-Ball consists of 2 divisions: Little Wolves and Rookies. Little Wolves are co-ed teams made up of 5 year old boys and girls. Rookies are made up of 6-7 year old boys, and 6-7 year old girls.

Note: If there are enough 6 and 7 year old girls to form their own league, then we will form a Rookie division for girls. Otherwise, 6 year old girls will be placed on co-ed teams with 5 year old boys and girls, and 7 year old girls will be given the option to play with 6-7 year old boys or move to softball, if space is available.  Girls may also contact either softball organization noted above for other playing options.

Pioneer: Players ages 7 and 8 are eligible to play Pioneer. It is recommended that 7 year olds wishing to play at this level have completed at least one year of tee-ball, preferably with some coach-pitch experience. All Pioneer games are played in Tualatin. Tryouts and team draft are held in an attempt to divide the teams as evenly as possible. Every player who is registered (and not on the waiting list) will be placed on a team.

Midget, Junior and Senior: Within each Age Division, ball players are divided into three skill levels – Federal, American, and National. The Federal level is the most competitive and there will be no more than one Federal team at each age level. The American teams compete at an intermediate level, and National teams are more developmental.

Tryouts: All tryouts are held on the turf field at Tualatin High School.

Federal level tryouts will be held on Saturday, February 6th, 2010.

Only Players wishing to be considered for a Federal team are required to attend the Federal tryout.

American and National tryouts will be held on Saturday, February 20th, 2010 for the Senior and Junior levels.

American and National tryouts will be held on Saturday, February 27th, 2010 for the Midget level.

Pioneer tryouts will also be held on Saturday, February 27th, 2010.

At tryouts, players are divided into groups and run through a variety of drills to show their abilities in the areas of hitting, fielding and catching. This gives the coaches an opportunity to assess each player's skill level and helps insure that players are placed in the appropriate divisions with others of similar ability. All players who are registered will be placed on a team. Players on the waiting list will be notified if space becomes available and should not attend tryouts unless notified.

Refund and Uniform Return Policies:

Refund Policy – Registration fees will not be refunded after February 6th, 2010.

Uniform Return Policy – Players that fail to return the uniform jersey in like condition will be charged a $35.00 replacement fee. Fee must be paid prior to registration the following season.
