**A note to all coaches that attended this meet - A lined Navy Blue Duquesne DUKES jacket was taken form the High Jump Area by mistake during last night's meet. In the jacket pocket was a set of key belonging to one of the coaches from Duquesne. He would like to have the key returned - no questions asked. If another knows anything about the missing jacket or key please call Duquesne's Head Coach Brian Delsite at 412-396-5238. Incidents like this will seriously jeopardize our opportunity to use the facility in the future.

Former W. Mifflin Athlete/Robert Morris Coach Passes Away
Former Head Track and Field Coach At Robert Morris and present Head
Coach of Montclair State University (NJ) Gerald "Bennie" Benson Jr. of
West Mifflin passed away last Friday February 20, 2004 from a heart
condition. He was 36. Benson, a 1985 graduate of West Mifflin High
School and a 1991 Graduate of Robert Morris directed the Robert Morris
Track program from 1992-1995 when he took the Head Coaching position at
Montclair State University.
Benson was voted the 2002 NCAA Division III indoor track and field
men's coach of the year after his team placed third at the NCAA
championships while his women placed eighth. At the Outdoor
championships that year his men and women placed seventh.
At this past weekend's NJAC Indoor Track Championships Benson was
Posthumously named Men's Coach of the Year. His athletes won three
individual titles.

Coach Bryan Delsite (Duquesne) worked with Bennie for a year while a
graduate assistant at RMU.
I have also had the pleasure to get to know Bennie on a personal
level. Bennie telephoned me before each Northeast Conference
championship meet (Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor) to wish us luck.
He was a great person and teacher of the sport and I will miss him
greatly.
