Welcome to Troop 888 Oswego, NY Chartered by the Charles E. Riley Home and School Association.

     The troop now has a Facebook page.  Come check us out.  All you need is your own facebook account.   Add us as a friend and we will let you in.  Search for Troop Eight-Eighty-Eight.  We have lots of photos and a fun way to keep in touch with fellow scouts.


Dear Scouts and leaders

1. Please bring in you bottles and cans for return.  Mr. Gilbert will be collecting them

2. Registration continues with Mrs. Thompson, if you have nor reregistered, dues are due. they are $65.00 for the year.

3. Be sure you also check with Mrs. Ross with regard to your medical,  Parts A&B , they are annual as well. (This not your physical for camp).

4. tonight we will be having elections and submissions requesting positions of responsibility.  Those of you with binders given out at your election need to bring them in for return and updating. A PLC date will need to be held ASAP.

5. Next week 10-02-13 we will have an open house/recruitment with sign-ups of new scouts. Recruit and you will earn a recruiter strip for your uniform.  Flyers went out from council to the Middle School and at the Farmers Markets. We need ideas and activities that reflect what we do as scouts.  be prepared to shine!

6. A senior in our area has requested the Troop for helping her to load boxes into a moving van. She and her handicapped son are in need. they will load on Sat and Sun. it's on Cochran St. not far from Riley school.  Her name is Theresa. I would like some older scouts and 2 leaders to help with this effort. 

7. as usual: handbooks and uniforms, writing utensil and anything else required for the meeting, not sure? contact Sam Janey 529-9125.

Fall Merit Badge Day in Syracuse, Saturday, November 9th
Nature Badge at Montezuma Wildlife Refuge, Saturday Dec. 14th

Hey Boy Scouts Make sure you sign up for some community service. Sign ups will be at the meetings. Email me to sign up if you are currently in sports.

October 5th, Saturday, The Cubtoberfest at the drive-in requests your help with knot tying, map/compass and other activities. 12-5. May stay for movie. Take lunch or money for snack bar. Part or Full time.

October 5 and 6 sat./sun. 10-5, Pumpkinfest Corn Maze. Don't have to attend the full time guys. Will also sell Popcorn, bring money or lunch.

October 8, need help with Lions and Tigers, oh my! What fun, this is a Tuesday and only from 6-7:00. We'll have an activity to do!

Last but not least, we need help at the Fulton and Oswego Farmers Market. We will hand out recruitment open house info and SELL POPCORN-we need new tents!!!!! 9/21 at Fulton a.m. 9:00-11:00 I need you. and in Fulton on 10/12 from 9-12 also, I will be there at 8 to set up.

         The troop is looking for donations of useable canoes, kayaks, paddles and lifejackets.  Call 343-2066 if you would like to help us out.

      Each patrol has their own web page that can be updated by your patrol leader.  Be sure to let your patrol leader know if there is something you would like to have added.

 Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys ages 11 - 17. Through the Boy Scout program, young men can achieve the core objectives of strengthening character, personal fitness and good citizenship.
