FROM THE DESK OF THE COMMITTEE CHAIR

As the calendar is running down and the holidays are quickly approaching, one has to ask themselves where did the time go.  Troop 68 continues to thrive and provide our young men with opportunities to get out of Union and experience life beyond their video games whether it's taking a ferryboat ride over to Manhattan to hike the Big Apple, climbing and repelling 60 ft. cliffs, learning new skills, canoeing down the Delaware River, or monthly campouts.  Our active Scouts grow and mature and learn a little bit more about the world with each trip they take.  Encourage your Scout to take advantage of all the activities this troop offers like the many campouts, the climbing trips and summer camp!  Even the wood splitting work party offers many opportunities to experience rifle shooting, archery, tomahawk throwing, and black powder shooting.

Another question we as a troop must ask ourselves is have we met our fundraising goal this year?  The answer is no!  Don't forget that in order for the Troop to thrive, we need operating funds, and the main source of those funds is the popcorn fundraiser in September and the Christmas Wreath fundraiser in December.  The fact still remains that the troop will need another fundraiser.  One of the fundraisers the troop is looking into is Gertrude Hawk Easter Candy.  Another fundraiser that is being considered is a fundraiser dinner.  If you want to be a part of the solution and have a voice than get involve by coming out to the next parent committee meeting on December 14, 2009

FROM YOUR SENIOR PATROL LEADER

Welcome back guys! I am looking forward to seeing all of you at our first Wednesday night meeting of the year on September 16th.  Our fall Court of Honor is going to be on October 14th.  Anyone who is ready for rank advancement will need to have their Scoutmaster Conference on September 16th and Board of Review on September 30th.  Please plan accordingly.

Sincerely,Jack Llemos
