Troop History
Troop 57 started as a lone patrol in the summer of 1938. Bill Mulford and Lloyd F. Funk directed the activities for the three boys who were the original members.
In May of 1939, the troop was officially chartered to Buckbee School located at the corner of Harrison and Alpine roads. Bill Mulford was the first Scoutmaster. Lloyd Funk was the committee chairman.
In 1949, the charter was transferred to Alpine Lutheran Church. The church was then located at the corner of Silvan and Newburg roads in the old Camp Grant Chapel. It moved shortly after that to its present location on Forest View Avenue just west of Charlotte Drive near A. C. Thompson Elementary school.
In the 70 years of scouting with the troop, 110 scouts have received the rank of Eagle. The troop has grown from 3 registered scouts back in 1938 to as many as 84 registered scouts in 2005.
