Tri-Town Softball Merges with Denville Softball in 2014!

A lot has been happening in the off season with regards to our Softball program. We’ve got good news and bad news. The bad news is the Town of Parsippany has imposed a $100 surcharge on all non-residents participating in their sports programs. This would mean that each of our softball players would have to pay $100 over and above the normal registration fee!

Your Tri-Town Board finds this surcharge totally unacceptable and unfair given that we have merged our Softball program with Parsippany. The surcharge was meant to discourage individual non-residents from fleeing their programs and going to Parsippany. This is not a case with our situation. Our friends at the Par-Troy East Little League totally disagree with the Town’s decision and fought unsuccessfully to have this fee waived.

The good news is the Denville Girl’s PAL Softball program agreed to merge their softball program with ours. Denville has been actively inquiring about our girls joining their program for 2 years now. Our board has been in discussions with Denville and is satisfied that their program far exceeds what Tri-Town can offer our girls. Denville has better facilities, has a competitive recreation program at all levels, has extensive instructional levels for the younger children and offers various travel programs that our girls will be eligible to try out and play on. Denville’s recreation program is a grade-based program that runs in conjunction with the current school year.

This change will affect softball player’s grades 1 and up. Girls age 5 (Pre-K & Kindergarten) will still play tee-ball in our program at Fanny Field. There will be a link on our website to Denville’s website as well as their registration form that can be downloaded to register your daughters.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact Jim Petersen, jpetersen8@yahoo.com or Joe Russo, jrusso31@optonline.net. Jim and Joe will act as Tri-Town’s liaisons with the Denville Softball Board.

We’re looking forward to a successful partnership and season with Denville!

How Do I Get My $50 Back?

  • Volunteer Bond Refund – “How do I get my $50.00 back?” Before answering the question, the following explains why the league implemented this. The league is not looking for the money; we are looking for help running league operations. We are looking for roughly 4 hours of time per family. We would love for everyone to get their money back. There is a Volunteer Refund Form under the handouts section. You call fill out the form and have the appropriate league representative sign off on it. We will be keeping track and report back to the league when a refund has been earned. Here are a few options:
    • Concessions – Work 2 games at the concession stand. Doreen Ohlott is in charge of the concession stands at Fanny & Pepe.
    • Field Prep/Closure – Help prep and close the field for games. The players really appreciate playing on a pristine lined field. 4 preps/closing will satisfy your requirement.
    • Wine Tasting – Contact Kim Pentaleri (Wine Tasting Fundraiser Chairman). She is always looking for volunteers (ticket sales, silent auction baskets, collecting tickets etc.) kpentaleri@optonline.net.
    • Field Upkeep – The league needs help with upkeep on the fields such as getting batting cages together, general labor. Contact Al Pentaleri (Head of Fields) or John Roon. apentaleri@optonline.net
    • Manage/Coach – All rostered coaches (the people we report to Williamsport) are entitled to a refund.
    • Got another talent – Let us know if there is something else you might be able to contribute to the league. You can email us at Tritownll@aol.com.
  • Remember - It is your responsibility to submit the form to us!  We have no way of knowing if you fulfilled your volunteer requirement unless we receive a completed form from you.

NOTE: All refund requests MUST be submitted by August 1st. No refunds will be issued after August 15th.
