Tri-Cities Little League: Spring 2010 League Divisions

Softball Minor B
Youth 7 and up, District 13 travel league. This league will be coach pitch for the entire season which includes 14 games with an emphasis on practices throughout the season; 11” softballs are used for play. Softball Minor A
Youth 9 and up, District 13 travel league. This league is player pitch until 3 players are walked and then the remaining inning is coach pitch. The season will consist of 18 games and 11” softballs are used for play. Tryouts are required to show readiness for this level of play. Softball Majors
Youth 11 and up, District 13 travel league. This league is player pitch and follows all Blue Book rules, with a few exceptions. Continuous batting order is utilized in this 22 game season and 12” softballs are used for play. Tryouts are required to access player readiness for this level. T-Ball
For children ages 5-7. Seven year olds who have not had at least two years of T-ball should play at the T-ball level. This league is focused on the basics of baseball. This includes proper positioning in the field, running bases, learning where to throw the ball and proper form for batting. Scores are not kept and importance is placed on team work and good sportsmanship.

Challenger
All ages. The Challenger Division of Little League is a program for mentally and physically challenged youth. Children learn the skills of baseball as well as enjoying the therapeutic and socialization benefits of participating in sports including the disciplines of teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play, which are hallmarks of the Little League program.

Instructional
Youth 7 and up. Coach assisted, kid-pitch baseball. Children learn how to pitch and how to hit off of a live pitcher. After 5 balls are thrown without a hit or a strike out, the coach steps in to pitch. Children continue to be coached in the field during play and develop playing skills. Four innings are played or a two hour limit - which ever comes first. Coaches continue to emphasize teamwork and good sportsmanship.

Minors
Youth 9 and up. Kid-pitch competitive play. At this level children will start learning the finer details of the game. This includes; stealing bases, following signals, strategies in the field and more. This is for intermediate players who can play up to the expected skill criteria. Tryouts are required to show readiness to play at this level. Younger players may move up if they can demonstrate the ability to do so. Please notify the Players Agent if your child intends to play up. The Players agent and League President make the final decision.

Majors
Youth 11 and up. Children are introduced to higher expectations of play and are able to demonstrate a high level of sportsmanship and responsibility. Tryouts are necessary to show readiness to move up. Younger players may move up if they can demonstrate the ability to do so. Please notify the Players Agent if your child intends to play up. The Players agent and League President make the final decision.

Juniors
Youth 13 and up. More advanced play. Tryouts are necessary to demonstrate readiness to play at this level.

Seniors
Youth 15 and up. No tryouts necessary to play at this level. However, prior experience in Little League is expected.

Big League
Players 17 and up. No tryouts are necessary. Participants are expected to have prior Little League experience.

Metro District 13
Division for all non-TCLL teams. In order to offer a more diverse playing experience to some of our players, Tri-Cities Little League supports the Metro inner-district travel leagues.
