SAN JOAQUIN ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION LEAGUE CHAMPS Friday, May 8 FRESHMAN SEASON ENDING STATS ONLINE Checkout the top of the freshman page and you will find a handout in MS Word where Coach Marty has provided the season ending stats for the freshman. Congratulations to the club who had 10 batters hitting over .300. Jake Shull led the team with a .500 average and 21 doubles. Chris Bacchetti batted .400, and Reilly Oki was at .381. On the mound, Daniel O'Brien gave the Bulldogs 8 wins with no losses. Manuel Robles was 6-2, and Jake Shull had 6 saves. The ERA for the bulk of the staff was around 1.5. Fantastic job guys. Congratulations to the freshman players and coaches for bringing home a League Title! For the freshman this is the first time they have not had to share the title with Lincoln since winning titles in 2007 and 2008. Daniel O'Brien pitched 5 innings of 1 hit ball. The freshman are on a one week break from league because Chavez does not have a freshman team, however when they matched up with a team from the adjacent TCAL league, they showed their dominance by defeating Tokay 10-0 after six innings. The win increased the impressive 2009 record of the freshman to 17-3. Daniel O'Brien and Robby Vaughn each pitched 3 innings and only gave up 2 hits.

Tuesday, April 28 BULLDOG FRESHMAN DEFEAT CROSSTOWN RIVAL
Manuel Robles pitched a complete game 5 hitter against West Tuesday afternoon to help his team take down their rival by the score of 9-3. Chris Bacchetti was 2-3 with a triple, Chase Johnson and Robles both doubled.

Thursday, April 23 FRESHMAN HOLD ON TO DEFEAT A GOOD FRANKLIN CLUB
Tracy came back from an early deficit to finally take the lead in the 4th inning thanks in part to a load of hitting up and down the lineup. Daniel O'Brien started for Tracy and pitched well through 5 innings giving up only 1 walk. Jake Shull came in for late relief and got the save under some stressful 7th inning conditions with the tying run at 3rd. Good defensive plays were turned in including a nice relay from Bacchetti to Josh Rogers to Cody Daniel to get an out in the top of the 5th (see picture of the tag at home above).

Monday, April 20 FRESHMAN GET STUNG BY FRANKLIN IN LEAGUE PLAY The Bulldogs suffered their first loss in league play Monday afternoon as they could only muster 1 run and 3 hits against Yellowjacket pitching that mowed down 11 Bulldogs on strikeouts.
The only scoring for Tracy happened in the 5th with 2 outs when Chris Bacchetti worked a walk and advanced to 2nd on a passed ball. Matt Loscavio hit a RBI single to score Bacchetti. The Bulldogs defense held for all but the 5th inning when 3 Yellowjacket runs scored. In the first inning, Loscavio and Johnson turned a nice double play. In the 4th, Daniel threw out a Yellowjacket runner with a nice throw to Rogers at 2nd. In the 5th, Oki, Daniel and Loscavio combined for a 8-2-5-2 play to prevent a Franklin runner from scoring.
Thursday, April 16 BULLDOG FRESHMAN OVERPOWER BEAR CREEK
Tracy generated 13 hits and Bear Creek allowed 14 walks and 4 hit batters to create a 27 run day for the Bullodgs. Daniel O'Brien had a big day picking up the win on the mound and going 3-4 with 3 runs scored. Reilly Oki was 2-2 and Eric Hutchinson, Chase Johnson and Jake Shull all doubled. Tracy is now undefeated in league and 14-2 overall.

FRESHMAN WASTE LITTLE TIME SENDING BEAR CREEK HOME
One hour and 15 minutes is all it took for the freshman Bulldogs to send Bear Creek back home to continue their Spring Break. Manuel Robles and the Bulldog defense brought their "A" game and the bases were full of Tracy baserunners as Tracy easily defeated Bear Creek 11-0 in 5 innings.

The Tracy bats were relatively quiet today as Tokay kept the pressure on throughout the game and gave Tracy only their 2nd loss of the season. Emiliano Aguirre started for Tracy and pitched 2 2/3rds. Robby Vaughn pitched the remainin 4+. Devon Denhom was 2-4 and Matt Loscavio had a double along with Jake Shull.

The freshman increased their overall record to 12-1 today by defeating the rain clouds and East Union 12-5. Jake Shull had an unbelievable day going 5-5 with 4 doubles.

FRESHMAN GAME SUMMARY
Tracy scored early and often to let Lincoln know they are now the dominant team in the SJAA at the freshman level. At least the first week proves this. While Lincoln has always been the SJAA powerhouse, the Bulldogs know they cannot let their game slip against their next set of leauge opponents if they want to walk away with a league title. Jake Shull had a 3-3 day with a double and 3 runs scored to lead all batters. Manuel Robles kept the Trojan bats quiet and off balance going 5 innings and striking out 4.
Pitching: Robles (W) 5 IP, 4K, 3BB, 5H, 1R Monday, March 30 CRITICAL EARLY SEASON GAME GOES TO TRACY Lincoln got more hits than Tracy and committed 3 less errors but Tracy had Robby Vaughn and Jake Shull pitching and a defense that turned two double plays to keep the Trojans scoreless in a critical league game Monday. Matt Loscavio had a big day at the plate hitting two doubles and a sacrafice fly for 2 of Tracy's 5 runs.

Chris Bacchetti, Jake Shull and Chase Johnson each had 2 hits. Johnson crushed a ball over straight away centerfield that rivaled in distance homers earlier this year by Hassna and Jossey. Robles, Aguirre, and Denholm all did duty on the mound.

Friday, March 27 Tuesday, March 24 FRESHMAN HOLD ON TO WIN
Daniel O'Brien pitched 6 innings of 4 hit ball and Jake Shull came in for scoreless no hit relief to hold off the Wolfpack today 4-3. Shull was 2-4 with a double and 2 runs scored today. Reilly Oki had a double, Chris Bacchetti make a heck of a catch late in the game and was 1-3, Matt Loscavio was 1-3 with a run scored and Kyle Scornaienchi had a hit. The win places Tracy at 7-0 with a very tough St. Mary's squad on their way Friday.

"I generally pleased with my team's performance this afternoon," Said Coach Frank Marty. "Robbie Vaughn allowed only one earned run and Matt Loscavio made a major league play at 3rd base diving to the ground and backhanding a shot down the line and getting right up to make the play at 1st. I was also impressed with Kyle Scornianenchi who made a nice catch in right field and then threw the ball to first to double up the runner. We had too many errors though as a team but luckily they were spread out."

Daniel O'Brien pitched a complete game 2 hitter and Jake Shull provided the offense with a 3-4 day along with Tyler Cox contributing a key 2 RBI single in the 1st as the Bulldogs defeated Galt 5-1. "O'Brien was great on the mound today and didn't give up a hit until the sixth inning," said Coach Frank Marty.

Wednesday, March 18 Friday, March 13 FRESHMAN FACE TOUGHEST CHALLENGE OF THE YEAR BUT COME OUT ON TOP
Turlock presented the biggest challenge to date for the freshman, but after a 5-5 tie, Kyle Scornaienchi broke things open with a 2 RBI double to give Tracy the lead they needed to hold on and win 8-5.
Winning Pitcher: Emiliano Aguirre You could hear the comments in the stands after the 3rd inning. "Wow this one won't be easy." "This is our toughest test of the year." "Now we will see what our team is made of." Even the scorekeeper didn't know how to put a "0" for the home team since they always had scored every inning of every game. Turlock was different. They were hitting the ball, advancing runners, and capitalizing on any Tracy mistake. The Tracy bats started out hot putting 5 runs on the board across the first 3 innings, but the Turlock Bulldogs (yes same mascot name), hung around and eventually tied the game in the 5th. How the Bulldogs Scored: 1st inning: Rogers gets a hit with 1 out, Cox walks, Johnson generates a 2RBI double. Daniel and Oki collect a hit but the inning ends after that with 6-3 putout. 2nd inning: Shull hits a double into right center. Rogers Sac Bunt moves Shull to 3rd. Cox gets an RBI hit. 3rd inning: Loscavio leads off with a hit and gets to second on an error in left field. Daniel gets a base hit which advances Loscavio to 3rd who then scores on an error by the 3rd baseman. 5th inning: With the game tied and 1 out, Loscavio and Daniel get a base hit. Oki generates a Sacrafice Bunt to advance both runners. Scornaienchi lines a ball down the left field line for 2 RBIs. Vaughn hits a RBI single that scores Scornaienchi. Key plays in the game......Reilly Oki in left diving for an out, a great play behind the plate by Cody Daniel to grab a high throw, do a back spin and tag a Turlock runner who was about to score, and the clutch hit by Kyle Scornaienchi who entered the game got up to the plate and immediately delivered with two men on to score them and then he quickly scored himself on the Loscavio hit to give Tracy the 8-5 lead. If you blinked, you would have missed Kyle's 3 run contribution.

Friday, March 13 Thursday, March 12 FRESHMAN WIN BIG OVER SIERRA It didn't take long for the freshman to steamroll over the Sierra Timberwolves 13-0. Daniel O'Brien pitched a masterful game of 3 hit ball over 5 innings while going 1-2 at the plate and scoring 2 runs. Cody Daniel tripled, Jake Shull was 2-2 with a double, Chris Bacchetti, Kendrick Bergman, Matt Loscavio, Reilly Oki, and Robby Vaughn each had one hit.
How the Bulldogs scored: 1st Inning: Shull leads off with a base hit and the next two batters strikeout. Johnson walks and Loscavio gets an RBI base hit. Dan O'Brien and Robby Vaughn shared the pitching duties each going 3 innings and joining for 10 strikeouts to hand Downey a loss on Friday afternoon in Modesto. Chase Johnson, Josh Roger, and Jake Shull each had doubles. Matt Loscavio was 2-3 and Roger was 2-4.
