OBTAINING PROPER JUMPER STARTING POINT

DRILL DESCRIPTION: Stand on the runway board facing away from the pit. Have your non jumping leg pointed ahead of teh other. Run 9 strides back down the runway and your first stride should be with the jumping foot. Count every other footfall until you reach 9. Wherever you land on the ninth stride is where you should begin all of your jumps. In other words, this is where you should start your run up for all jumps in the future. For more advanced jumpers, use check marks at the first and fifth strides to make sure you are on track and will avoid getting a foot fault.
