LREG PARTNER PRACTICE

Drill description:
Get a partner for this drill. One hurdler stands to the side of a low hurdle. If your trailing leg is the left, stand on the right side of the hurdle. Opposite for right trailing legs. You will stand on your leading leg and bring the trailing leg over across the hurdle. Before you do so, lean forward and grab hold of your partner for balance. This simulates the forward body lean during a race. Now slowly bring the trailing leg over the hurdle and then down to the ground. Repeat several times slowly and then increase speed. Then switch partners.
The emphasis here is on getting the trailing leg to clear the bar and do so quickly. However, you must start slowly to give yourself time to develop this skill.
