SPIRIT Competition 2005

SFX wins School Spirit Competition
The St. Francis Xavier Senior Boys 7th Grade Team won its game Saturday, January 8, at John Carroll Catholic High School, and the team's players helped score another victory for their school -- the 2005 Toy Bowl Jamboree School Spirit Competition.

SFX's red and white shakers, hand-made banners, and red mini-megaphones helped the St. Francis Xavier Saints win the Spirit Competition, but it was the sportsmanship of the players and coaches of the three teams participating, and that of their fans, that most contributed to SFX's win.

Throughout the 7th Grade Boys' game with Our Lady of Sorrows C, the Senior Girls' game against cross-town rival Our Lady of Fatima, and the 8th Grade Boys' game against Our Lady of the Valley C, St. Francis Xavier players, coaches, and fans all exhibited excellent sportsmanship by cheering positively for their team, respecting the officials, and offering sincere handshakes to their opponents after each game. All three teams won their games.

Aside from excellent sportsmanship, the creativity -- and, perhaps, bravery! -- of several 7th Grade players helped earn St. Francis Xavier its Spirit Competition win. The picture below illustrates just how far some of the players went to show their school spirit by coloring their hair and painting their faces SFX Red and White!

As the winner of the School Spirit Competition, the entire 7th and 8th Grade class body at SFX will be treated to a pizza party.

For complete results from the 2005 Toy Bowl Jamboree, and other games played January 8, including season-opening games in the Starter and Flea Divisions, go to the Schedules section.
