As Valencia High School named a new head coach, former Conejo Cowboy player and TO Titan Coach Chris Casillas has been promoted to the Vikings' varsity staff. Congratulations Chris!!!
Here is part of the article naming Larry Muir the new Valencia head coach...
"...Muir will be in charge of searching for someone to run the offensive line and defensive ends, something Stiman had done. One possibility would be the promotion of JV head coach Chris Casillas to varsity to fill the void.
Were tentatively looking to bring up Coach Casillas from the JV and have him take over, so there will be a bit of a reshuffling, but for the most part, our staff will stay intact, Muir said."

2004 Harvard Football Prospectus Features Corey Mazza
|
Senior Brian Edwards was a second-team All-Ivy selection last year after he caught 47 passes for 864 yards and eight touchdowns. Edwards ranks among the fastest players in the Ivy League, and he showed a game sense and toughness that belied his relative inexperience last season. Edwards gives Harvard a bona fide deep threat on every offensive play. His speed allows him to turn a short route into a big gain, while his ability to stay on his feet makes him a dangerous player anytime he has the ball. Opposite Edwards will be sophomore Corey Mazza, who, at six-foot-three, has the size and skill to enjoy a breakout year. Mazza saw regular duty as a freshman, as he finished wtih 21 receptions, 382 yards and four touchdowns, including Harvard's opening score in the win against Yale. Junior Ryan Tyler is a versatile player who will line up as a slot receiver and in the backfield. Tyler caught 15 passes last year and was Harvard's third-leading rusher with 213 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Senior James Harvey was enjoying a solid 2003 season until he suffered a season-ending injury on the turf at Columbia. If he is able to return to form, he gives Harvard a dangerous option in multiple-receiver sets. Junior Corey Waller has terrific speed and took on a regular spot in the offense when Harvey went down. Junior Todd LaFountaine, who spent his first two seasons at Harvard at quarterback, moves to wideout in his third year, while junior Mike Marynick and sophomore Danny Brown could get a look. Senior Adam Jenkins is expected to take over as the regular tight end thanks to his proven experience as a blocker and receiver. Junior Kelly Widman, who caught an 11-yard TD pass in the season finale against Yale last year, will also see plenty of snaps at tight end. |

Former Titan Tony D'Ascenzo In the Daily News
Though struggling to a 2-5 start, Thousand Oaks has the potential to bounce back next year because of the way some sophomore standouts are playing.
Receiver Matt Luft (6-foot-4, 175 pounds) leads the team with 37 catches for 554 yards and four touchdowns.
But Luft might be throwing passes rather than catching them next season. He is the backup quarterback to senior Chris Owens.
"He's got some skills at both positions," Thousand Oaks coach Mike Sanders said. "He's got those (Harvard freshman) Corey Mazza-type abilities at receiver and he's a left-handed passer (like Owens and former standout Ben Olson). He also is a 4.0 student."
Then there's active linebacker Tony D'Ascenzo, who already is leading the defense.
"Tony had 80 tackles after our first five games," Sanders said. "He has one of the best noses for football I've ever seen."
