Fall Lacrosse 2007

Tribal Lacrosse is pleased to announce we will be offering a lacrosse program again this fall. This program is open to all youth lacrosse player (3rd -9th grade) looking to improve their skills. Tribal Lacrosse serves the communities of Boxford, Middleton and Topsfield. However this program is open to everyone looking to play lacrosse this fall. Tribal is one of the largest lacrosse programs in Massachusetts. We hope that by developing a fall program we can improve our player’s skills and raise the level of play on the North Shore. We developed our fall program with an eye to improve the playing experience while reinforcing team aspects of lacrosse and just having FUN.

Passing, passing and passing will be the focus of the fall program. (Did I mention passing?) Teams will be small with evenly balanced talent. The game will be played at a much faster pace. We will be playing on small sided fields much like what is used to play indoor or box lacrosse. Team will consist of 8-12 players per team, with 6  or 7 playing at on the field at one time. This will insure that everyone gets a great deal of playing time.

Tribal Lacrosse was contracted with Amesbury Sport Park again this season. Although it is an additional 15 minute drive we think the benefits far outweigh the inconvenience of the travel. Amesbury Sports Park are turf fields with lights. This will allow us to avoid canceling games due to field conditions. We are also able to schedule the games later in the afternoon or early evenings to avoid conflict with the other fall sports. Amesbury also has a lounge that will allow parents the opportunity to get out of the weather and still watch the games. So, we feel that the benefits of playing on prefect fields, with games that will not be cancelled (remember this spring), the convenience of a lounge far outweigh the additional travel time.

Program Details
Format: ½ fields playing six on six  or 7 vs 7 when goalies are availble. Two defense, two mid fielder, two attacks. When goalies are not available we will be using shooting targets. Every player will move every few minutes and play all three positions during a game. Most all field lacrosse rules will apply with the exception of “three pass rule”. The boys will now need to make three passes before the can shot on goal. We have found that passing and catching skills have been lacking at every level in our program. We are hoping that this will stress the fundamentals as well as improve the team aspect of lacrosse.

Penalties:
Player must leave the field for a short break and will be substituted with a player from the bench. The opposing team will be awarded a fast break from 5 yards in front of the center field line. The three middies will stand on the center line on the refs whistle the play will start.

Games:
Each team will be playing 10 games, starting on Saturday September 8th and running until Saturday November 17th. There will be no games on Columbus Day weekend. The games will be two 24 minute running halves with a 5 minute half time.

Cost:
$125.00 for the fall season. Game jersey is included. Checks should be had payable to “Tribal Lacrosse” and send to: First time players must register with US Lacrosse. This is an insurance policy for the program and covers a one year period. You will not need to reapply in the spring of 2007. You can get you US Lax number on line at: uslacrosse.com.
