Key Signing Helps NKTG Break Losing Streak
by Kory Jazbec
President Ivan Radoš said it was probably the missing link that NKTG was looking for. Yesterday marked the return of the Adidas Game Ball that was part of so many NKTG championships. Rados had begged the ball to come out of retirement and finally signed the ball to a contract that will see it play for the rest of the season. Financial terms were not disclosed.
NKTG was up against rivals NK Karlovac with the two teams battling for the fourth and final playoff spot. NKTG fired quickly with Milenko Cepo firing a seeing-eye half laser that kissed the post and went in. Then the cousins hooked up for the second goal as JJ Grubisic tapped home a sitter from a nice cross-goal pass from Cousin Ive. The new signing then made its triumphant return after a 2-0 lead at half-time. It quickly helped NKTG try to regain its scoring force when Boozer scored a nice half-volley from a pass from Tomislav Bilic. Cousin Ive scored the fourth NKTG goal off a corner kick from Kory Jazbec and Boozer scored his second of the game with a chip over a falling NK Karlovac goalie. The Game Ball helped NKTG end its two-game losing streak and also helped goalie Rob Biturajac earn his first win of the season. Tune in next week when NKTG play the fierce Stunners at 8:00PM at the Oakville Sports Centre.
After the game, all fans (well some) were out for the First Annual NKTG Skills Competition at Monaghan’s. The only event in this years contest was the prestigious Penmanship Award. It was a fierce battle with 5 competitors but Kory Jazbec prevailed and won the Gold medal. Ivan Rados was a close second and Tomislav Bilic found himself on the podium. NKTG players on-hand all signed the wings Styrofoam box and will be putting it up on Ebay. All proceeds from the sale of the Styrofoam will be going to the charity.
President Rados also was in concern when the bill came to the table and
funds were short and money was drawn from the team expense account. In an effort to avoid Chapter 11, Rados confirmed that the infamous Flings will be removed from the order as well as extra sauces. After hearing the news of the departure of the Flings, Milenko Cepo announced his retirement from NKTG sighting the news of the Flings was the only reason he was playing.
