A Stunning Performance
By Milenko Cepo

Last night NK TG looked to continue their undefeated season facing upstart newcomers Stunners in indoor action at the Oakville Athletics Centre.   The wily veterans of NK TG dismantled their rookie opponents with a convincing 7-2 thrashing. NK TG actually scored all 9 goals as the two Stunner goals were "own goals" by NK TG. Rob Biturajac was still out serving the second match of his suspension and replacement goalie Ante Culina played admirably in his debut. Obviously a lack of chemistry between the net minder and his new club were the result of the two "own goals".

Jerko Grubisic opened the scoring early on in the first half on a nice individual effort to make it 1-0. Stunners quickly tied after NK TG's own Chris Sliskovic slid the ball past Culina for an own goal to tie the match. The turning point of the match game with 3 minutes left in the first half. After a brief stoppage of play the Croatian Southerners launched a full out blitzkrieg on the Stunners goal. Kory Jazbec, George Andric and Grubisic (his second of the night) all tallied single markers in the last 3 minutes of the half. This 3 goal cushion would be enough for NK TG.

Yet another own goal narrowed the lead to 4-2 before Sliskovic would make amends for his first half blunder with a cheeky goal to make it 5-2. Defenseman Tom Bilic pinched forward to score his first goal of the season and JJ Grubisic completed his hat trick by netting his 3rd of the night. The final score ended 7-2.

Coach Peric was a little disappointed with some sloppy played and added, "We need to play much better to win next week against Oakville's Finest."

Later that night, GM Ivan Rados announced that striker Chris Sliskovic would receive a 6 day suspension for failing to show up to Monaghan's for the second straight week. "This kind of action will not be tolerated especially from rookies!" It was the second consecutive week Sliskovic was absent from the post-game festivities with no explanation of his whereabouts.

The much anticipated re-match of last seasons final on Oct/27/04 at 9:50 PM.   It’s one match you won’t want to miss.
