Another Undefeated Season

NK TG capped off its fifth straight undefeated season with a very impressive 7-3 victory over NK Hrvatski Vitez. While the participants of the Final Four had already been determined, the game carried huge play-off implications in terms of seeding. Vitez needed a just a point from the match to secure third place headed into the playoffs while a loss would likely mean a re-match with NK TG in the semi-finals.
Unlike most games this season, TG exploded out of the gates and took the lead quickly. Ivan Grubisic was the first to get on the board when he took a beautiful feed from a George Andric free kick and buried it in the back of the net. A few minutes later, Mario Kuliš would double the margin when his shot deflected past the helpless Vitez keeper. JJ Grubisic would add a third goal before the half to give TG a comfortable 3-0 lead.
The second half was a goal-scoring bonanza. Vitez finally got on the board early in the second frame to close the gap to 3-1. But that was as close as they would come as Junior, Mario and JJ all scored their second goals of the night. Vitez would score two more goals on defensive blunders by TG but not before JJ scored his third OF THE night to record the hat-trick. After the dust had settled, NK TG walked away with a comfortable 7-3 victory. The scoreline could have been even greater had it not been for some timely saves by the Vitez keeper.
After the loss, Vitez had to sit around and wait to see the outcome of the nightcap which saw Karlovac United take on By Design. Karlovac needed a victory to leapfrog Vitez into third and they did just that, winning by a score of 3-1. So the final four is now set with three Croatian teams in the mix. The final competitor (Oakville’s Finest) also contains a handful of Croats which shows the domination of Croatian soccer in Southern Ontario. The semi-finals kick off at 9:15 PM with the following matches:

Oakville’s Finest vs Karlovac United
The winners of these two matches will only have a few minutes to prepare for the final which will take place at 10:50 PM. This is one action packed night of soccer which you won’t want to miss.
