Profile: Coach Richardson graduated from Buckeye Union High School in 1985. After high school he attended College of the Desert in Palm Springs, CA on a baseball scholarship. After the fall season Coach Richardson transferred back home to attend Phoenix College where he played for 3 yrs., then accepted a scholarship to College of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM. He was named first team NAIA Region 8 catcher and Honorable Mention NAIA All-American. He led his CSW team in hitting his JR season by hitting .387. After his playing days were done he started coaching at New Mexico JR College where he stayed for 3 yrs. before accepting a coaching position at College of the Southwest. After 3 seasons at CSW Coach Richardson became the Head Coach at Hobbs High School. In five years at Hobbs High Coach Richardson compiled a record of 69 wins against 42 losses, including 3 consecutive trips to the NM State Baseball tournament. This will be Coach Richardsons eighth season at the helm of the Wolverine Baseball program (124-88). After an initial rocky start with a season record of 5-22 the Wolverines have rebounded nicely with 4 consecutive 20 win seasons. Included in those three years have been 2 Region championships and three consecutive state tournament appearances. Coach Richardson has sent numerous players on to the next level of play and several to pro baseball. Some of the programs that his former players have gone on to include: Nebraska, Wichita State, New Mexico State, York College, College of the Southwest, New Mexico JR College, Phoenix College, Glendale Community College, Mesa Community College, Vernon Regional College, Eastern NM University, West Texas A & M, Harding University, Cal State Northridge, Dallas Baptist University, Scottsdale Community College, Odessa College, South Eastern Oklahoma University, Wayland Baptist University,and Gateway Community College, Western Nevada,and Alcorn State University. Coach Richardson has coached several players taken in the major league baseball draft including 3 current big leaguers, Brendon Donnelly-Red Sox, Armando Almanza-Marlins, and Brandon Harper-Nationals.Coach Richardson has been named AZ big School Coach of the Year in 2002, as well as West Valley Coach of the year in 2002, and 2004. He was named West Valley Region coach of the year in 2002. He coached the AZBCA's North South All-Star game and the Inaugural Super 50 game at Bank One Ballpark. Coach Richardson works for the Diamondbacks at Training Center camps throughout the state, as well as working for Arizona Total Baseball and USA Baseball. Coach Richardson has been the Manager of the AZBCA JR Sunbelt team that competes in McAlister, OK for the past 3 summers. Coach Richardson has been married to Dana for 16 years and they have two children together, RaeAnn 14, and Brock 10.
