This past fall and winter the Tolleson Baseball program again competed in the NW valley coaches summer league. Tolleson had two teams that each played throughout the fall and winter they played for the City of Tolleson and were called the Westside Wolverines. Each team played a total of 20 games.
In addition to the NW valley coaches league, many of the players participated in various fall showcases througout the fall. Several of the older players got the opportunity to participate in the Az scout league with the Yankees.
Two players in particular; Oscar Gonzalez and Jose Sierra were involved in some national level invitational opportunities. Oscar traveled to Cary, NC to participate in the National Team Identification Series that identifies top national level 17 and under players. Jose Sierra traveled to NM to attend a showcase where he verbally committed to UNM. Jose also was invited to partipate in the World Wood Bat tournament, which is one of the heavest scouted tournaments in the nation.
Both players represented themselves, their families and us here at Tolleson very well. Congrats.
The fall and winter season will conclude on Dec. 13.
Tuesday, November 24
Senior Jose Sierra becomes the second Wolverine Baseball player to sign a national letter of intent to attend the University of NM in Albuquerque. Brent Fisher was the other player to sign with a D-1 school back in 2005. Click the link below to read the article in the West Valley View.
