16U TN XPLOSION FASTPITCH TRYOUTS FOR FALL 2013/SPRING 2014

16U TN Xplosion Fastpitch, based in Franklin, TN, just south of Nashville, is a travel softball team entering its 10th season this fall.  Our program is focused on developing skills, hard work, sportsmanship, accountability, achieving potential, and team.  The athletes on the roster are working to play collegiate softball, and the entire Xplosion program is centered on helping their athletes achieve that goal through hard work and competitive scheduling.  Since 2006, the Xplosion program has signed over 30 of its athletes to D1 softball programs.  The 16U Xplosion Fastpitch organization is a year-round program whose coaches have over 16 years of playing experience including secondary and collegiate experience and over 21 years of coaching experience.  The club has access to the indoor and outdoor facilities for conditioning, training, and playing necessary to build strong, competent athletes ready to compete at the collegiate level.  Over the past three years, the team earned a 3rd place finish in the 2010 USSSA 11U World Series, has won three state championships in multiple sanctionings, has won over 10 championships, finished in the top 30 out of 105 teams in the 2011 USFA 12U-B World Series in Panama City, FL, finished fourth at the 2012 14U-A ASA Tennessee State Tournament, competed in a field of 79 teams in the 2012 14U-B NSA World Series near Chicago, finishing first, and finished 3rd in the Spring 2013 ASA Heartland Showcase in Chattanooga.

The team is moving to the their first year of 16U competition for the Fall 2013/Spring 2014 season and will hold their annual, open tryouts at the location noted at the end of this posting on the following dates:

REVISED TIME/LOCATION FOR SATURDAY DUE TO WEATHER NOTED BELOW IN RED!!!!!

TRYOUT DATES (REVISED TIME FOR SATURDAY):  Saturday, August 10, 2013 @ 12:00-3:00pm; and Sunday, August 11, 2013 @ 2:00pm.

If needed, individual and small-group tryouts can also be accommodated on additional dates and times.

Primarly '97 and '98 birth-year players are welcome and encouraged to attend tryouts, and all positions will be evaluated.  Past extended experience with an established travel fastpitch softball team competing at the A or B level will potentially be a plus, and interested athletes must have advanced defensive, hitting, speed, strength, and agility skills. Please contact us early if you are interested in attending tryouts as we usually evaluate 35-50 athletes each year for 11 roster spots.

After the tryouts outlined above, Fall practice/season will begin on August 18, 2012.  The team will tentatively begin their fall tournament schedule the last couple of weekends in August and will potentially play 5-7 fall tournaments through mid November.  The plan for the 2013-2014 season will be to play a series of tournaments in a mixture of sanctionings primarily continuing to play A-level college showcases and ASA tournaments pursuing a berth in the 2014 ASA Nationals.  We have and plan to continue to play approximately 12-16 tournaments (depending on weather) per year beginning our spring tournament schedule soon after school seasons wrap up and finishing around the end of October.  The team played in two Showcase tournaments this spring and plans to continue attending Showcases in the fall and spring to provide our athletes with the best competition and exposure to colleges.  Being part of the Xplosion softball program, we draw on these contacts and experience for our players.  We will attend at least 1 World Series.

If you have any questions and/or have an interested athlete, please contact Bryan Richter @ 615.477.6160 or @ midtndiamondjaxx@bellsouth.net.  Also, please visit our team website @ http://www.eteamz.com/tnxplosion98.  All inquiries will be kept confidential.

TNX'98 SPRING 2012 - NSA TRIPLE PLAY-14U-B TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS

Early Saturday morning, the girls embarked on a fourteen hour day of softball to kick off the 2012 campaign.  They began the day with a hick-up losing to the Diamonds (5-1) in Pool Play but put that behind them quickly as elimination play started against the Easton Elite who they bested 14-5 to advance to meet Legacy SOS.  They bested Legacy (8-1) to earn a spot in the winner's bracket final again the Diamond Dolls.  The girls started quickly by taking a 1-0 lead in the first.  At the end of two innings, it was 1-1.  Our ladies pushed back taking a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the third, but the Dolls answered, knotting it up again 3-3.  In the last inning, a resounding double off the right field fence gave the Xplosion a one run advantage which they made stand up with some excellent pitching and defense to advance to the Championship game which turned out to be a rematch with Legacy SOS.  Between the rain drops, the girls combined timely hitting with strong defense and pitching to outlast Legacy (3-1) for their first tournament championship of 2012.  Overall, it was an outstanding first weekend for the Xplosion which revealed that the team has a great foundation on which to build as they begin the 2012 journey.

JAXX FALL2011 - USFA 14U-OPEN FALL BASH 11 TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS!!:

Saturday morning, the girls entered battle near home in Franklin at Fly Park on yet another beautiful, fall day and competed in the one-day, USFA 14U-Open Fall Bash 11.  Their pool play started one of their best all-around days of softball of the fall with a 9-0 victory.  They carried this momentum into elimination play following up their pool game win with an 8-0 victory.  They followed this up with a 12-0 win, earning them a spot in their third straight championship game in as many tournaments against the Giles County Slammers.  They continued their stellar play taking a 4-0 lead in the finale.  The Slammers plated a run in the third, but the Jaxx answered in the bottom of the inning with three more runs ultimately claiming a 7-1 victory.  Over the course of the day, the Jaxx combined consistent hitting, stifling defense, and excellent pitching to earn their second tournament championship of the fall.

JAXX FALL 2011 - USSSA 14U-OPEN 4th ANNUAL REBEL YELL RUNNER-UP

Saturday morning, the girls traveled south to the Liberty Park Sports Complex in Birmingham, AL on another beautiful, fall day to compete in the one-day, 4th Annual USSSA 14U-Open Rebel Yell and found the competition stiff.  Their pool play started sluggishly with a 7-4 loss to the Diamond Divas at noon, but the Jaxx rebounded in their second pool game @ 3:00pm where they pulled out a tough 2-1 victory over the Alabama Twisters.  This earned the Jaxx a #3 seed entering elimination play which slated them for battle with the Birmingham Crush.  The girls combined strong pitching, solid defense, and timely hitting to earn a 3-1 victory and a semi-final rematch against the Twisters.  They found themselves trailing 3-2 after the first inning but surged to a 7-3 win sending them to the championship game.  Their day started early and ended very late due to an extra-inning contest which left the Jaxx waiting for over an hour for an opponent in the championship game and turned their day into a 17-hour marathon.  Their bid for their second straight tournament championship fell short as fatigue set in near midnight, and they fell to the Birmingham Bandits ’97.  Over the entire day, the ladies combined improving defensive, solid pitching, and potent offense against talented teams to earn a spot in their second championship in as many tournaments.
