Weekly News - July 17th

Summer is in full swing, the weather has been great!  Our 9/10 District Team completed their play this past week.  They did not make it to the semi-finals, but there were some real close games and the team played great.  We wanted to congratulate the team on their great effort and their constant positive attitudes.  In addition, they represented TNLL in the best way possible, in which we are all proud of them.

Although the games have officially ended, there is still plenty of great baseball left to play.  TNLL is holding our annual summer baseball clinics.  These clinics are a great opportunity to learn great skills, hang out with friends and have a blast.  This year we are doing a little bit something different.  We are having three clinics per week, and each structured a bit different.  We encourage all players to attend, these are free and players from past years have benefited greatly from the time spent.

Sundays, from 3-5 pm, beginning July 24th.  Sunday clinics will be an advanced clinic, designed for Minors and Majors, which will work on pitching, catchers and hitting.  These will be focused, advanced drills to aid the aspiring pitcher, catcher or hitter.  There will be small groups set up with individual attention to perfect skills and techniques.

Mondays, from 6-8 pm, beginning July 25th. Monday Clinics will be for T-ball and Rookie aged players.  These will be a high energy, fun, skill based clinics that will focus on the fundamentals of baseball.  The first part of the clinic will focus on skill based drills, with individual instruction from TNLL Coaches.  Each clinic will finish with a small game.

Thursday, from 6-8 pm, beginning July 28th.  Thursday clinics will be for Minors and Majors players.  These also will be a high energy, fun, skill based clinics that will focus on advanced skills and some tactical plays.  Each clinic will finish with a small game.

All Clinics will be at the Pines field.  All players need to bring their glove, a drink and wear sunscreen.  Rookie, Minors and Majors players must wear cleats, t-ball players are welcomed to wear cleats but not required.

Sunday, July 3

What a great day this past Sunday at TNLL’s annual cookout and awards ceremony! We want to thank everyone that helped with anything and everything! Many people began the day at 9am setting up tents, tables, chairs and prepared the food. During the event many volunteers helped keep things flowing. A special thank you to Jeff and Wendy Beetle from Patrick’s Pub and Eatery for their donation of food and organizing everything. Finally, a large group remained at the end and helped clean up! We have too many names to mention of who helped, but if you did help on Sunday, THANK YOU!!

Pictures of the event are posted on TNLL’s Facebook page, log on and take a look. You can find our Facebook page under Tilton Northfield Little League.

 9/10 District Tournament Team:
The TNLL 9/10 tournament team began their tournament Wednesday evening, traveling to Raymond on June 29th. The team played great, and it was a very close game. The TNLL team lost 2-0, but most every inning the TNLL team had players in scoring position and only needed that one more hit to get the go ahead run.
They continue their tournament this weekend; following is their upcoming schedule. If you would like to see some great baseball, stop by our field or travel to one of the other scheduled games at nearby fields and take a game in.

            Game schedule:
Friday, July 1st at Belmont at 6pm
Saturday, July 2nd at TNLL vs Bow at 1:30pm
Tuesday, July 5th at TNLL vs Laconia at 6:00pm
Thursday, July 7th at TNLL vs Concord American at 6:00pm
Saturday, July 9th at Merrimack Valley at 1:30pm
Monday, July 11th at Concord at 6:00pm
Wednesday, July 13th at TNLL at 6:00pm

Come on down and cheer the team on!

Weekly News - June 22nd
It is hard to believe that our season is almost already over. This coming weekend we will have our end of season celebration!

Here are the details:

Saturday, June 25th – Tilton-Northfield Old Home Day Parade:
The entire league is invited to march in the annual Tilton-Northfield Old Home Day Parade. All players are asked to be in full uniform (hats, jerseys and gray pants) and wear comfortable shoes (no cleats). We all need to be at Union Sanborn School by 9:00am for a 10:00am start. We will march out of Union Sanborn School, around Elm St, to Bridge St, then onto Main St in Tilton. We will continue through downtown Tilton, left onto Park St to the Pines area where the parade will conclude. After the parade, Coaches will have a meeting spot where you can pick up your children and enjoy the remainder of the day.

Sunday, June 26th – TNLL Annual Cookout and Awards Ceremony:
We will be having our annual end of season cookout and awards ceremony! Food will be served beginning at noon at the Pines Field. The menu will consist of burgers, hot dogs, chips and assorted salads. Drinks will also be provided. Once everyone is fed, we will start the awards ceremony. We will start with some league awards, then onto player awards. We ask that all players remain until the end of the awards and cheer on their fellow players.

We will have limited seats available as well as a few tents set up for shade. We are asking all parents to please bring their favorite chair. Also, if you have a “pop up” tent, you are welcome to set it up for shade if you would like.

WE NEED HELP!!! We will need a crew arriving at the field at 9am on Sunday and need help with the following:
1. Tent Set-Up
2. Table and Chair Set-Up
3. Food Prep

Then during the event we need help with the following:
1. Games
2. Food Service
3. Trash Detail

Then after the event we need help with the following:
1. Clean Up
2. Tent Take Down
3. Table Chair Take Down.

PLEASE, PLEASE help, we hear many say, if you need help ask, well we are asking! We are estimating 600+ people will be served, and 10 – 15 volunteers cannot do it, we need help.

Also, parking will be tight. If you are able to walk or carpool please do. We can park around the field and other street parking. We cannot park around the front or side of the Fire Station, it must be kept open for emergencies. There may be some limited parking around the Town Garage, but they are normally cleaning up after the Old Home Day so it may be limited.

Volunteer Nomination:
Last call for volunteer nominations, we will close all nominations tomorrow (Thursday)!   We are requesting that everyone go to our online nomination form at the following link http://bit.ly/kA3IGg and nominate our great volunteers for each category. Our selection committee will then review the nomination and select the winners to be announced at our end of season cookout and awards ceremony.

Weekly News - June 8th
The regular season is winding down, but Playoff and Tournament season is just beginning.
We are lucky to have three teams going to tournaments this year. We have the 8/9 Year Old Junior All Star Tournament in Laconia, the 9/10 and 11/12 District All Star Tournaments!

8/9 Year Old Tournament
This is a Junior All Star Tournament to be held in Laconia the week of June 20TH. This is a high action, coach pitch tournament. Please be advised, this is not the typical coach pitch game we play, but a higher-level, action packed event. This tournament is well suited to our 8 and 9 year old Rookie and Minors players. There is no charge for this tournament
We will have one 15-player team. Tryouts will be this Sunday morning, 6/12, from 9am – 11am at the Pines field. All players interested in participating must be at tryouts.

9/10 and 11/12 Year Old District Tournaments
This is open to 9/10 and 11/12 year olds. This is the same District Tournament we played in last year. We will be playing other towns in the NH District 2; Concord, Laconia, Suncook and many more. Games begin on 6/28 and run through 7/15.
We will have one 9/10 team and one 11/12 team of 14 players per team. Tryouts will be Saturday, June 18th at 5pm for both age divisions at the Pines Field.
All players that tryout will be required to bring three copies of proof of residency, copy of birth certificate and complete new enrollment and medical forms.

Winnisquam High School Baseball
With the 118th pick in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft, the New York Yankees selected Jordan Cote from Winnisquam Regional High School and TNLL alumni! It was just a short six years ago that Jordan was throwing heat off the mound at the Pines field! TNLL congratulates Jordan for this amazing accomplishment.
Want to see Jordan Cote on the mound here in New Hampshire? Our good friends, the Winnisquam High School Varsity Baseball Team is in the midst of their playoff run in hopes to be back-to-back State Champions! We are all invited to cheer them on this Friday, June 10th at 4:00 pm at Gill Stadium in Manchester. Head on down and cheer them on!

Snack Shack:
Thank you again to everyone that has helped in the snack shack. The season is winding down but the busiest time of the season is coming upon us with the upcoming Minor and Major Playoffs and the District games that our League will be hosting. It is important that we have coverage during all of these games as we will have many more spectators than usual at our field and it will be a busy time for the snack shack. Please contact Judy Shevlin at judy_shevlin@yahoo.com if you are able to help with any of the following openings.

Weekly News May 4th

May 4, 2011

Hello TNLL Families,

What a great weekend, the weather was perfect, the parade was a blast and the ceremony was great. The games played so far have been competitive, fun and real enjoyable. We have heard a lot of positive feedback, and most importantly, have seen a ton of smiles on players faces!
We have some pictures posted on our Facebook page and on our website under the “albums” link. If there are any pictures you would like posted, please e-mail them to jim.shevlin@yahoo.com. We welcome any TNLL related photos from games, events or practices.
Snack Shack
We still need volunteers for the snack shack. It is a lot of fun and you get to meet a ton of people. Even if you can do one night, please help, every bit helps. If you can help, stop by the snack shack and sign up for a shift, or e-mail judy_shevlin@yahoo.com. As a reminder, money raised in the snack shack goes directly back to TNLL to purchase equipment, maintain the field and keep sign up fees low.
Calendars
Calendars sales are in full swing. Drawings will begin on Sunday, May 15th so you have less than two weeks to sell them! Please sell them and give money and completed entry forms to your coaches or drop them off at the snack shack. As a reminder the team that sells the most will be treated to ice cream at Dipsy Doodle. As with the snack shack, money raised by calendar sales goes directly back to TNLL to purchase equipment, maintain the field and keep sign up fees low.
Umpires
TNLL is fortunate to have a great crew of umpires, however we need more. If you are interested in umpiring either behind the plate or in the field please contact Brian Beetle at b_beetle@msn.com. Umpires can be as young as 13, or as old as….. So if there is an older brother, sister or grandparent that can help, please let us know. Likewise, parents are welcome to help out. As a reminder, being an umpire offers you the best seat in the house. Also, Umpires are also given a burger or hotdog and drinks for helping out. This is the TNLL version of dinner and a show!
Pictures
Pictures will be taken this Saturday, May 7th at the Pines Community Center.
  • To preorder online, go to www.neatphotosne.com and click on prepay, then select TNLL.
  • If you choose to pay in person, players should bring their completed envelopes and payment to the camera with them. Additional, envelopes will be available the day of the pictures. Only cash or check will be accepted the day of pictures and payment must be made in full at the time of the pictures.
  • Photographs will be delivered to the league in about three weeks.

Help
We would like to request that fans help keep the fields clean during and after games and practices. Please be sure all trash is disposed of after games and practices as well as equipment is put away. Also at the TNLL field, any help in emptying trash barrels after games would be welcomed. A couple parents and a pickup truck makes quick work of emptying the trash barrels at the field. Many times field clean up falls upon coaches or board members, and with all that they already do, helping with trash and other clean up is a great thank you to them. Likewise at the school fields we are allowed to use them free of charge and are guests there. We need to do our part to be welcomed back and leave the field in the same or better shape than how we found them.
TNLL Clothing Order
For those of you who would like to purchase a TNLL sweatshirt, t-shirt, hat, fleece, jacket and other items, we are placing an order. All order forms and money must be dropped off at the snack shack by Saturday, May 14th. The order forms can be found at the snack shack or on our website at www.eteamz.com/tnll under "Home". This will most likely be the only order that will be placed this season. Checks should be made payable to “TNLL”.
We encourage you to keep informed of TNLL events and news in a variety of ways; our website http://www.eteamz.com/tnll/, our Facebook page under “Tilton Northfield Little League” and join our e-mail list.

TNLL News - Snack Shack Schedule

May 1, 2011

Hello TNLL Families,

Many parents have expressed an interest in helping with the league in some way but not sure how.  Here is a way that you can help the league, raise some money for the league, watch some great baseball and have fun at the same time!  We are looking for volunteers to help in the snack shack during games that are scheduled at the Charles Dwinal Field (Pines).  Volunteers usually arrive about 1/2 hour before game time and everything is usually finished at the end of the game.  If you have never volunteered in the snack shack before, the jobs are cash register/order taking and cooking the food.  We will always schedule new volunteers with others that know how to run everything.

If you would like to sign-up to volunteer in the snack shack, please email Judy Shevlin at judy_shevlin@yahoo.com with the dates and times that you are available based on the following schedule.

Weekly News - April 26th

April 26. 2011

Hello TNLL Families,
Thank you to everyone that came down to the field this past Saturday to finish the field clean-up. The fields are just about ready, the new AutoServ scoreboard is installed and ready to go and the snack shack is stocked. All we need now is some good weather so our teams can practice and we will all be ready for Opening Day this coming Saturday, April 30th!
Snack Shack:
It is that time of year again when we will be looking for volunteers to help in the Snack Shack during games played at the Charles Dwinal Field (Pines).  We normally look for two volunteers per game and the jobs are primarily cooking and running the cash register.  If you have never volunteered in the Snack Shack before, we will be sure to pair you up with someone who knows the in’s and out’s of how everything is run.  Following is the schedule of games for the next two weekends and upcoming week.  If you are able to help, please contact Judy Shevlin at judy_shevlin@yahoo.com.  All volunteers will need to complete a volunteer/background check form.

Opening Day:
It is finally here, OPENING DAY! All players and coaches will meet at 8:30am at the Union Sanborn School. All players need to be in full uniform. If it is cold, please have the players wear their uniform shirt over a sweatshirt or jacket. Players do not need to wear cleats, sneakers are ok.
The parade will start at 9:00am prompt. The town is shutting down roads, so we will start on time. The parade will proceed out of Union Sanborn, onto Park St, up Park St to the field. Family and friends are asked to line Park St and cheer on the players. Once at the field, players will proceed to the corral and await introduction.
Once at the field, parents are asked to assemble around the outside of the fence area at the field and await the introduction of players. All the players will be introduced and assemble on the field. There will be a short ceremony and National Anthem. After the ceremony, parents will come on the field and get their children from their coaches.
Special Notes about Opening Day:
1. Parking – parking will be at a premium. If at all possible please carpool to the field. When parking at the field please park as tight as possible. Also, do not park near the fire station; we need to keep it open for emergencies. Very limited parking is available at the town garage or Pines Community Center. Many people also park at Union Sanborn and walk to the field.
2. Games -- games are scheduled to start at 11:00am. We are asking everyone to be considerate of travel times for the first games and any delays that may develop during the day. All coaches will do their best to start games on time.
Calendars:
If you have not received fundraising calendars to sell, they will be available at the Snack Shack Saturday. Please do your best to sell calendars, the money raised goes right back to the league for improvements and equipment. Completed entries and money can be returned to your coach or dropped off at the Snack Shack. As a reminder, the team that sells the most calendars will have an ice cream party at Dipsy Doodle.
We encourage you to keep informed of TNLL events and news in a variety of ways; our website http://www.eteamz.com/tnll/, our Facebook page under “Tilton Northfield Little League” and join our e-mail list.

Weekly News - April 19th
It has been great to see the players on the fields with practices in full swing. The game schedule is finally completed and going out to coaches tonight. They will be discussing games and practices with their respective teams this week. All teams will be playing Opening Day, Saturday, April 30th.

Field Clean-Up
Thank you to those that attended field clean-up this past Saturday in Northfield and Canterbury. Canterbury saw many people show up and complete many projects. The benches were moved, infield cleaned up and many other smaller projects were completed. The Northfield field had a very small turnout. Those that attended did a great job of cleaning and setting up sponsor signs.

This coming Saturday (4/23), we will have our final clean-up. We need anyone and everyone to show up rain or shine! We have more raking, more signs, and a bunch of smaller projects. Plus we are getting some infield dirt for the Southwick School field and need help with that.

PLEASE come and help Saturday, April 23rd beginning at 9:00 am. All volunteers should go to the Pines Field in Northfield, and we will ask a few to go over to Southwick, and others to stay at the Pines Field. We will need you to bring rakes, shovels and wheelbarrows.

Opening Day
Opening Day will be Saturday, April 30th. We will meet at Union Sanborn School at 8:30 am, and begin the parade at 9:00 am. We will conclude the parade at the Pines Field where all the players will be introduced and run onto the field. Once on the field there will be a short ceremony and the first games will begin at 11:00 am. We will have some final details in next week’s news as well as your coaches will have additional details.

We encourage you to keep informed of TNLL events and news in a variety of ways; our website http://www.eteamz.com/tnll/, our Facebook page under “Tilton Northfield Little League” and join our e-mail list.

Weekly News - April 12th
Hello TNLL Families,

Just so you do not think you missed anything, we did not send a Weekly News out last week. Sorry it was a very busy week and there just was not enough time.

This week brings with it, some baseball weather!! Finally, the snow is melting off the fields and the sun is welcoming us outside!

Teams:
By now you should have been contacted by your child’s coach to inform you of what team he or she is on. In addition, the coach will be communicating practice times and other information of interest. Some coaches communicated this information by telephone and some via email.

If you have not been contacted yet, please reply back to this e-mail and we will figure out why you have not been contacted.

Practices:
We are hoping to start practices this coming weekend.  The Tilton Prep fields are ready; Southwick and Canterbury fields are close. According to the forecast, it looks like we should be good to go this weekend. Your coach will confirm with you later in the week.

Game Schedules:
Due to the last minute addition of a 6th Minors team, we had to change things around a little. In addition, another Little League we are playing has been delayed in their schedules. We are hoping to get game schedules out this week. We understand that this may be a slight inconvenience to you, but please keep in mind that we are dealing with 22 TNLL teams, and multiple other leagues on multiple fields. We would rather take an extra day or two to be correct rather than to rush it out and make continual changes throughout the season.

However, please plan on playing in Northfield or Canterbury on Opening Day, Saturday, April 30th. We will have exact times and locations announced once the schedule is released.

Field Clean Up:
All hands on deck for field clean up! We need people to rake, shovel, build, hang sponsor signs, clean and countless other projects. If you can the spend a day, or an hour we need you! Please bring your own rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and hand tools. Lunch will be provided for all!

Field Clean-Up Schedule:

·        Charles Dwinal Field (TNLL) 9:00am

·        Southwick 9:00am (If needed)

Opening Day:
Opening day is just over two weeks away!! Opening Day will be Saturday, April 30th. We will begin with a parade, then a short ceremony at the Charles Dwinal Field. Details are still being worked out, however below is a schedule of events:

·        9:00 am – Parade begins, proceeds from Union Sanborn, down Park St to the Charles Dwinal Field.

Ice cream with all the fixings!  This annual event is sponsored by the Dipsy Doodle Dairy Bar and will provide your family the opportunity to share some great ice cream, learn what is new for TNLL, catch up with some old friends and hopefully make some new ones.  We will have a table set up to order TNLL clothing, if you anticipate ordering clothing, please bring a check or cash with you. There will be an opportunity to enter the “Chevy Double Play Giveaway” to win a Chevy Cruze and some money saving coupons from our friends at Benson Auto in Franklin. Also, Dicks Sporting Goods in Concord has provided us with coupons to help you save money when purchasing equipment.   The board members will be available for questions and answers throughout the event. This is a free family event, just show up Friday and plan to eat some ice cream!

The team has continually supported TNLL in a variety of ways, and it is our turn to support them, as well as learn some great skills.

Coaches and parents are welcome to stay. The entire varsity team will be there and they will be giving away some prizes to the kids after the clinic. The cost of the clinic is $20 per player.

Friday, April 1
Weekly News - March 29th
It was a very busy weekend for TNLL! Friday evening we had about 150 TNLL players and family members attended the Ice Cream Social.  Dipsy Doodle provided some great ice cream and a bunch of toppings.  It was great to meet many new families, and it was equally great to see some old friends.  The evening concluded with a short presentation to answer many questions for those in attendance.

Saturday saw a group of players attending a clinic with the Winnisquam High School Baseball team.  The TNLL players got to learn some great skills and rub elbows with the State Champions.  The highlight of the clinic was Winnisquam’s ace pitcher, Jordan Cote showing the TNLL group what a 90 mph fastball looks like up close. Let’s just say speechless comes to mind.

Also Saturday, most of TNLL’s top notch Umpiring Staff attended an Umpire Clinic to learn the ins and outs of umpiring and to get ready for the upcoming season.

On Sunday, the Winnisquam High School gym was packed with TNLL players as the TNLL Coaches were putting on a pre-season tune up clinic.  A special thank you to Jeff Savary and all the coaches that lead the clinic.  Everyone had a blast and worked on some skills to get ready for evaluations.

New pictures from these events can be found on our Facebook page under Tilton Northfield Little League.
