Thomas Jefferson Youth Football: Welcome

We will begin equipment distribution beginning Monday July 21st starting with the 13 & under team. Time for all nights will be 6:30 pm at Roosevelt.

The 11& under team will be Tuesday.

The 10&under will be Wedensday.

 The 8& under and the 7 & under will be Thursday.

 Please only show up on your night! We will not distribute equipment to your  child if:

-You have not returned equipment from last year.

-You have an oustanding balance and have not made arrangements to pay it.

-Your age  group coaches do not show up for distribution. If this occurs your coaches will be responsible to hand out your age group's equipment when we begin practice.

-You show up on any night that is not your assigned night without making prior arrangements.

All of our equipment is equally good. There is enough  for all who are currently registered. If we run out of anything we will get it.

Please do not attempt to modify any equipment. Some equipment, especially the helmets, may feel awkward at first. That does not mean that they do not fit. The coaches will check them and make adjustments. There will be staff on hand from NovaCare Sports Performance to assist in fitting of the helmets. They are experienced in working with high school and college football teams in the area of helmet and shoulder pad fitting.

Remember you will be recieving PRACTICE equipment. With the exception of the shoulder pads and helmets things may not fit exactly perfectly. We will make every effort to fit things but understand that there are many different sizes and shapes of kids and there are significant differences  in sizes between manufacturers of different items. We will have a tent available to try things on. We will, within reason, take as much time as we need to to fit your child properly. If you are being unreasonable with the fit of the practice gear we will stop at that point.

All teams with the exception of the 13 &under will be getting brand new game shirts. The 13's got new ones last year.We will NOT be distributing them at equipment handout. You will get them during practice.

There will be information  at equipment distribution regarding the Impact concussion testing program.

If you have not yet registered for contact football you may do so at equipment handout.

ON SATURDAY JUNE 28TH THE 5TH ANNUAL TIM CUSICK LITTLE JAGUAR YOUTH FOOTBALL WAS HELD AT TJ STADIUM. COACH CHERPAK OF THE STATE CHAMPION JAGUARS WAS ON HAND AS WELL AS MANY OF THE CURRENT TJ HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS. THANKS TO THE BOOSTERS AND YOUTH COACHES FOR DONATING THEIR TIME TO THE KIDS. ALSO THANK YOU TO NOVACARE SPORTS PERFORMANCE FOR RUNNING THE "MINI COMBINE". SPECIAL THANKS TO COACH NASSIDA AND COACH RASH FOR SETTING UP AND RUNNING THE ON FIELD INSTRUCTION.

PROCEEDS FROM THE CLINIC WILL BE DONATED TO THE WRIGHT AND DAVIS FAMILIES.

ON TUESDAY DECEMBER 11TH BOOSTER PRESIDENT DON MANFREDI AND FOOTBALL COORDINATOR TROY BAXENDELL SIGNED THE LEASE FOR THE FIELD COMPLEX.  MR. HARRY NEEL, THE PROPERTY OWNER WAS ON HAND TOO AND IS LOOKING FORWARD TO THE GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY DETAILS OF WHICH WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY. THE LEASE IS GOOD FOR 25 YEARS.  A COPY OF THE LEASE WAS THEN HAND DELIVERED TO SHACOG (SOUTH HILLS AREA COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS) AT THE DEADLINE TO KEEP OUR $50K DCED GRANT. WITHOUT THE LEASE THE GRANT WOULD HAVE BEEN FORFIETED. 

A BIG THANK YOU TO TRIANGLE ENGINEERING FOR WORKING OVERTIME ON THE MANY CHANGES TO THE PLANS  THAT WERE REQUIRED!

THANKS ALSO TO MR. SCOTT CUSICK WHO HAS ARRANGED FOR DELIVERY OF ROAD MILLINGS TO THE SITE WHICH WERE UNANIMOUSLY DONATED TO US BY JEFFERSON HILLS COUNCIL SOME TIME AGO. THESE MILLINGS WILL SAVE US BIG MONEY IN CONSTRUCTION COSTS.

WORK STILL NEEDS TO BE DONE AND FUNDS STILL NEED TO BE RAISED FOR THIS TO BE A SUCCESS!

AS MANY OF YOU KNOW I AM A PHYSICAL THERAPIST THAT SPECIALIZES IN SPORTS MEDICINE. MANY OF YOU ALSO KNOW THAT I RUN A SPORTS PERFORMANCE PROGRAM FOR YOUNG ATHLETES OUT OF MY CLINIC (NOVACARE REHABILITATION AND SPORTS PERFORMANCE, 275 CURRY HOLLOW ROAD, PLEASANT HILLS IN THE ARBOR PROFESSIONAL BUILDING).

I HAVE NEVER ACTIVELY ADVERTISED IT TO THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO BE SEEN AS TRYING TO PERSONALLY PROFIT FROM BEING THE COORDINATOR. A LOT OF YOU HAVE YOUR KIDS IN THE PROGRAM AND YOU HAVE CONVINCED  ME TO ADVERTISE IT TO THE ENTIRE FOOTBALL PROGRAM. THERE ARE MANY REASONS FOR THIS BUT PRIMARLY KIDS DO NOT GET ENOUGH PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND ALSO I KNOW OF A  FEW ORGANIZATIONS IN OUR LEAGUE THAT ARE ALREADY PLAYING INDOOR FOOTBALL.

WE ARE SEEING GREAT RESULTS FROM THE KIDS WE HAVE IN OUR PROGRAM AT NOVACARE. WE RANGE FROM 7 YEARS OLD THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE ATHLETES. EVERY PARTICIPANT IS INDIVIDUALLY EVALUATED AND A SPEED, AGILITY, AND STRENGTH PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR THEM. WE TRAIN THEM FOR 30 SESSIONS THEN RE-EVALUATE THEM. DURING THE 30 SESSIONS THE PROGRAMS ARE CHANGED BASED ON THE ATHLETES RESPONSE AND PROGRESS. EVERY CHILD IS DIFFERENT-THIS IS NOT A "COOKIE CUTTER" APPROACH.

EACH SESSION LASTS 1-1 1/2 HOURS.  (OUR REGULAR COST IS $75 EVALUATION AND RE-TEST FEE PLUS $300 FOR 30 SESSIONS).WE CAN ALSO ARRANGE AN EASY PAYMENT PLAN FOR YOU TOO. IF AFTER THE INTIAL 30 SESSIONS YOU WISH TO CONTINUE AND PROGRESS THE COST IS ONLY $300 OR $10 PER SESSION. OUR REGULAR $75 TEST FEE IS WAIVED FOR AS LONG AS YOUR CHILD IS IN THE PROGRAM. WE CAN ALSO ARRANGE A VERY FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE TO WORK AROUND YOUR CHILD'S OTHER ACTIVITIES INCLUDING EXPANDING SATURDAY HOURS AND EVENINGS.
