TLL SKILLS CLINIC BEGINS JANUARY 2010

We’re excited to announce a new partnership with In The Zone Baseball Club in Fall River!   Club Director, Ron Westmorland (a name you might recognize – his son, Portsmouth native Ryan Westmorland, signed with the Red Sox last year), has taken over the former Hit Quarters space at the Nokona Baseball bat factory at 390 Airport Road, Fall River.    There have been many improvements made to the facility, and it is better than ever!

Ron and his team of professional coaches and instructors are eager to develop a long-standing relationship with the baseball and softball families of Tiverton Little League, and have put together an outstanding and affordable Baseball Skills Clinic program for us, with very low instructor/player ratios.  (Softball program information will be sent in a separate email within the next few weeks.)

As outlined below, beginning in the first week of January, the first of two consecutive six-week programs will be held, bringing us right up to the start of the Spring 2010 season.  For the first half of the program, there will be separate six-week sessions for two age groups: 6 through 9 year olds, and 10 through 12 year olds.  The second half of the program will begin in mid-February, and will be more challenging than the first.

Please note that it is important to register for these clinics early!  Each clinic is limited to 24 PLAYERS, to keep the coach/player ratio fantastically low, at 6/1.   With this ratio, your child will receive a high-level of personal attention, and have many “at bats”, as a result.   Therefore, these sessions will fill up fast!

2010 BASEBALL SKILLS CLINIC – SESSION ONE

**Ages 6 through 9**

One-hour program - Saturday mornings 9am to 10am (1 hour)

Beginning January 9, 2010 – runs for 6 consecutive weeks

$45.00 per player

**Ages 10 through 12**

Two-hour program - Monday nights 6pm to 8pm (2 hours)

Beginning January 4, 2010 – runs for 6 consecutive weeks

$90.00 per player

For both age groups, 4 professional coaches will provide instruction in a 4-station format.   This format limits the amount of players to 6 per instructor – no more waiting (and goofing around!) for long stretches of time for your turn at bat.  All players will be actively engaged throughout each session.  The primary focus will be hitting, with approximately three-quarters of each session spent on hitting/bunting, and approximately one-quarter will be spent on fielding/throwing.

Payment in full will be required at the first session of each clinic.  Due to the discounted rate ITZ has already extended, they are not able to offer a sibling discount.  (Please email Cheri if there are any payment concerns.)

Please register as soon as possible.  With the extremely low cost of these clinics (only $7.50/hour of instruction) they will definitely fill up fast.
