Wednesday, February 25
Parks and Ikpefan Lead Purdue Men to Record

Congratulations to former Titans, Nick Parks and Obos Ikpefan, for leading their Purdue 4 x 400 to a new school record last week.  The record was 27 year's old!  The time places them 11th in the nation and puts them in good position to advance to this year's NCAA Indoor Championship.  Stay tuned for more big things from these two young men this year!

Alexander Giong for The Gold

Best wishes to Niata Alexander at tomorrow's Sun Belt Conference Championship.   In her freshman campaign at Troy, Alexander has established herself as one of the favorites to take home the gold in her signature race; the 400.  Her indoor best of 55.94 is only 6 hundredths of a second off the conference leader.  The conference champship will be hosted at the Birmingham Crossplex Feb 23-24th.   GO NIATA GO!!

Tuesday, May 27
Congratulations to Niata Alexander (New Manchester High School) on her signing with Troy University to run track .  Niata joined the Titan Family in 2011 and had an immediate impact on the team.  She is a 4 time All American and in 2012 was an integral part of our national champion 4 x 400 relay.  Her hard work and determination have paid off with a track scholarhsip to Troy University.  GO TROJANS!!

Congratulations to Athena Carpenter (Pope High School) on her recent signing to study and run track at The University of Kentucky!  Athena is a 2 time USATF Youth National Champion and holder of multiple team and Pope HS records.  She is a lifetime Titan who first hit the track at age 5.  Her hard work and determination have led to both an academic and athletic scholarship to UK.   GO BIG BLUE!!


Monday, November 25
Congratulations to Cierra Dunston (McEachern High School) on her recent commitment to run track for The University of North Carolina.  Cierra has been a member of The Titans for close to 10 years and is a 2 time Jr Olympic Champion and holds multiple team records. Her years of commitment and hard work have paid off with a scholarship to UNC.


Titans to Vols

Congratulations to Ariel Terrell (Westlake HS), Elliiott Berry and Evan Berry (Creekside HS) on their recent commitments to The University of Tennesee.  The trio holds numerous Titan team records and have been a part of some of the most dominant relay teams in team history.  Ariel was offered a track scholarship while both Elliott and Evan were offered scholarships to play football. 




Gilstrap, Pinckney & Styles

Styles, Pinckney & Gilstrap Graduate!! 

Three of the most decorated Titans of all time graduated from college recently.  LaCresha Styles, who still owns 6 Titan team records received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Duke University.  Styles wrapped up a very successful senior campaign on the track as well.  She led her team to its highest conference finish in the 4 x 100 relay at the ACC Conference Championships.  After spending the summer at home, she has decided to return to Duke to pursue a graduate degree.

Takeia Pinckney, who boasts 4 team records also graduated recently.  She received her Bachelors degree from LSU.  Pinckney is a 4 time All American and SEC Champion on the track.  She has one more year of athletic eligibility remaining and plans to use it to prepare for a possible professional career on the track. 

Kenneth Gilstrap, II, who has 5 team records that have stood the test of time recently received his Liberal Arts degree from Middle Tennessee State where he has been a 2 sport standout.  Gilstrap, who is a starting defensive back for the Blue Raiders football team has also been a major contributor on the track team.  He also has one more year of eligibility remaining and is expected to take his skills to the next level on the field.

Lookout for these young adults as they will undoubtedly continue to do big things!

Mainor On The Rise!


Former Titan, Melanie Mainor established a new personal best in the high jump for the Tulane Green Wave.  The junior from Powder Springs moved to #3 all time indoors for Tulane, just behind another former Titan, Zandi DeBowles.  Click the link above for the full story.

Congratulations to Obos Ikpefan of Roswell High School on being awarded a track scholarhips to Purdue University.  Obos will join Nick Parks and Eric Harris on the Boilermaker roster next year where he will compete in the 400, 400 Hurdles and Triple Jump.  Obos joined The Titans in 2012 and was a major contributor to the All American Young Mens 4 x 400 Relay and garnered All American honors individually by finishing 6th in the 400 Hurdles.

Pinckney Back on Track


After  sitting out most of 2011 due to injuries, Takiea Pinckney looked to be regaining her form as she raced to victory in the 60 meter dash at the Razorback Invite this weekend.  The long time Titan and 4 time NCAA All American qualified for the final with the fastest time of the semifinals at 7.45.  Pinckney ran a 7.42 seasonal best in the final to headline a 1-2 sweep by the Lady Tigers as junior standout Kimberlyn Duncan finished a split-second back in second place at 7.43.

Pinckney and her Lady Tiger teammates return to action next weekend as they make their annual journey to New York to compete as part of one of the premier collegiate meets of the indoor season at the prestigious New Balance Collegiate Invitational to be held Feb. 3-4 at The Armory Track & Field Center.

Williams Sets KSU 800m Record


Sydney Williams established a new Kennesaw State school record in the 800 this week at the Birmingham Invitational.  Her winning time of 2:16.68 is a personal best and bettered the former record by over 6 seconds.  Williams is the Titans Track Club team record holder in the Young Women's 800 and is a freshman at KSU where she is a Pre-Pharmacy major.  Congratulations Sydney!!

Thornton commits to Texas A&M


Cameron Thornton, one of the nation's most sought after high school middle distance runners, has committed to attend college next fall at Texas A&M in College Station.  Thornton, a long time Titan and senior at Whitefield Academy, recently announced that he had chosen A&M over the likes of Arkansas,  Virginia, Villanova, Alabama, Stanford and Clemson. 

2011 was a banner year for Thornton.  He became the only high schooler from Georgia to run sub 1:50 more than once, represensted the U.S. at the World Youth Championships in France and defended his GHSA state title in the 1600 and Cross Country.
