Titan's Field Update
Football Field Lights
Titan's Football Field Lights
First, and most important- we owe a huge Thank You to the Burbank Park District! The Board & staff have been a tremendous help. One person above all that has been instrumental in making a great place for these kids to play football & to cheer is Park District Director- Bill Olsen!

(Underlined sentences indicate new & updated information.)
On Wednesday, April 12th, 2006 - Bill Olsen presented the Park District Board with a request for bid approval for the Titans stands. It was approved unanimously. The stands seat approximately 280 people. There is an announcer's booth with fencing around the roof for a film deck. The Park District Board approved a purchase for shutter doors over the booth windows at a cost of approx. $4,500.00. The shutter doors were installed on Monday, November 20th, 2006. There are plans for a storage area to be built under the stands. There are also 2 sets of mini-bleachers on the visitor's side as well. They seat approximately 50 people each. Two New Y-shaped goal posts have been installed.
The football field proposal to install an irrigation system was approved by the Burbank Park District Board on July 12th, 2006 & is up & running since mid-October. The practice field has already been fertilized once & is being placed on a schedule to recondition & maintain it.
The Burbank Park District Board also approved the purchase of a field striper that Bill Olsen has shared with the Titans for the 2006 season!
In cooperation with the Park District, we are working to improve the parking by the practice & game fields. At the October 2006 Park District meeting they approved a plan to expand the parking lot by 39 spots for a cost of approx. $60,000.00. The Parking lot expansion project was completed in May 2007.The practice field was thatched several weeks ago. Brand new goal posts were installed onto the practice field in May 2007. Also in May 2007 - The Titan's Game Field received a 2 inch lift by applying 6 tons of top soil & 500 lbs. of grass (Bluegrass). The Park District also installed a new flag pole on the North end of the Titan's Field.
All of this is great stuff! When you have the opportunity-make sure you thank Bill Olsen & the Burbank Park District Board for all of their support! Please let them know how much we appreciate all the time & money they are putting into our kids! You can contact them by going to the Titan's community links page.

  Stay tuned for more updates!

St. Baldrick’s Foundation

We have several Titan members that are going to shave their heads for a great cause!

Matt Mellenthin(Junior Helper Coach & Titans Alumni Player)-Will be shaved March 18th-3PM @ Reavis HS Library
Jim Rich (Football Peewee Coach)
Joe Bucki (Football Super Peewee Player)

Alex Martinez (Football Pee Wees) participated in it as well. His dad(Titans Parent) and his brother did also.

Since its inception in 2000, St. Baldricks has raised more than $34 million and grown into the worlds largest fundraising event for childhood cancer.  Worldwide 160,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year and despite tremendous progress, cancer remains the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S. and Canada .

St. Baldricks research grants help fill crucial funding gaps at medical institutions where children are treated for cancer, ensuring the finest care for every child.  The St. Baldricks Foundation has funded 13 research fellows, launching brilliant new careers in childhood cancer research.  And grant funds have been distributed to over 230 institutions for laboratory research and to help make clinical trials available to more children than ever, giving those children treatment that offers the best chance for a cure.

While battling cancer, children lose not only their hair but years of their childhood, and sometimes their lives. In comparison to their struggle, shaving my head is a small sacrifice, and the money raised will make a difference for children with cancer now and in the future.

To donate online, visit www.StBaldricks.org, click on Donate and search for me by filling in my first and last name under Find a Participant. Then click on my name or picture and complete the donation transaction. You can also donate over the phone by calling 888-899-BALD. I will also be collecting pledges at work, home, email or at the event.

Dear Applicants:

Burbank Titan Youth Football and Cheerleading Organization is proud to announce a

working partnership with National Center for Safety Initiatives through which we will

engage in a comprehensive background screening program.

Burbank Titan Youth Football and Cheerleading Organization has taken important

steps to ensure the highest level of safety within our programs - for the youth

participants and also for you, who make the programs a success. One of these steps

is the implementation of a standardized approach to background screening for our

coaches through the National Center for Safety Initiatives. This includes a

comprehensive background screening using the Center’s Check it Twice™ product

and a simple “Red Light/Green Light” clearance report issued in accordance with the

Recommended Guidelines® published by the National Council of Youth Sports.

This is part of a national movement towards the standardization of safety programs

for youth-serving organizations in this country.

Burbank Titan Youth Football and Cheerleading Organization has worked with

National Center for Safety Initiatives to ensure that this process is convenient,

secure and confidential.

Simply go to
http://www.ncsisafe.com and click on “Background Check Self

Registration” on the left side of the webpage. Complete three easy steps:

Step 1: Enter Self Registration Number: 36721996

Step 2: Enter Your Information as Requested

Step 3: Provide Legal Authorization and Certification

“Red Light/Green Light” Results will be sent to Burbank Titan Youth Football and

Cheerleading Organization. National Center for Safety Initiatives will contact you

directly if there are any questions, problems or issues related to your specific

information.

It is important when entering your name, you use your
full legal name as written on

your birth certificate or driver’s license. Please also verify that your social security

number was typed correctly. Using nicknames or failing to type a correct social

security number may delay or invalidate your background check.

If you have any questions or problems submitting your information, please call the

National Center for Safety Initiatives at (866) 833-7100 x109.

Thank you for your continued participation and your cooperation in this important

Titan's Peewees Make It To The Superbowl!

The Titan's Peewees will be playing on Saturday, November 15th at St. Laurence High School(77th & Central Ave., Burbank). Game starts @ 11AM. Please make every effort to come out & support the 1st team to make it to the Superbowl in over 15 years!

We are also looking for all of our cheerleaders to be part of this great & historical event for the Titans. If you can participate, please wear your purple windsuits. Also, have your hair styled as for a game day- including your purple & white hairbow & wear your competition shoes. Please meet Director of Cheerleading, Jamie Liedecker, near the concessions stand at St. Laurence High school. Please arrive by 10:00AM so we have time to put a half-time performance together.

The reason that the Superbowl games are at St. Laurence High School is because the Burbank Titans were fortunate enough to be awarded the honor of hosting the Superbowl. We are hosting at St. Laurence High School so the football teams can play on a turf field. This is a great opportunity to bring in extra funds to the Titans organization. So, we can use all the help we can get. This is also a good opportunity for any family to get in their parent participation hours if they are short on hours. We will be responsible for the concession stand only. We will be working the concession stand from 7:30AM-5:30 PM. We especially need help between 11AM & 1PM. We will also need help, at 5:30PM, transporting our concession equipment back to the Titan’s concession stand.

I would like to congratulate the the Juniors that have been selected to the Probowl: Damien Malgioglio, Evan Fermaint, Deante Cartwright, Raul Boles.

And congratulations to Junior Headcoach, Evan Fermaint, for being selected as a Probowl team coach. The Probowl game will start at approximately 5:00PM.Hope to see everyone there!

GO TITANS!
