Eric Wiseman named 3rd Team All NY State in Class "C"
Tiogas Wiseman named All-State
After a successful junior year in which he dominated for the Tioga Tigers Eric Wiseman was named to the All-State team this week.
Wiseman, The Daily Review All-Region Player of the Year, was named a third-team running back on the all-state squad.
Its a huge honor, Wiseman said. I dont know how many guys before me have got it, but I know I am among an elite group for the school.
Tioga coach Jeremy Pichany knows what this honor means for Wiseman and the program.
Its great, any kind of publicity we can get for our program to help boost our program is great, he said. I just think he did a great job this year.
After making all-state as a junior both Pichany and Wiseman know expectations will be higher for next year.
It definitely does put added pressure on him and its pressure I think he welcomes, Pichany said. The first day of the offseason he was already ready to get started for next year.
It is more pressure, I know I not only have to get back on the state team, but try and get up to second or first team, Wiseman said.
After a year in which he rushed for 1,691 yards and 17 scores, Wiseman sits less than 1,200 yards short of the school rushing record of 4,223 set by Brian Daugherty.
After seeing his success Pichany thinks some of the younger players will work harder to reach similar success.
I try and tell them to look at Eric, he said. He put his entire offseason in last year and this year they can see how it payed off.
Wiseman hopes that the younger players see that they can get noticed at Tioga.
Its good for them, they can see that you can make it if you do put in the hard work and keep your nose clean, he said.
As he looks at colleges to continue his football career after high school Wiseman knows making all-state will help.
I think it will be a big deal because now its not only local, its statewide, he said.
While earning all-state is a big honor Wiseman has bigger goals.
My biggest goal is definitely to win our division then win our section, he said.
