November 17, 2012:  Information Meeting and Skills Assessment at 10:00 at Randolph Upper Campus.

December 10, 2012:  HLA registration deadline; visit http://huntsvillelax.org/.
 
December 17, 2012:  Mandatory parents meeting Monday, 6:00 pm at Grissom High lunchroom.  Spread the word to those new parents interested in attending, but not on our distribution.

HYLA Signup Deadline Moved Up!!!

Most of you received the message below a few days ago from HYLA.  Coach Puckett wanted me to again stress the importance of getting your players signed up today.  There is much work to be done to get things in place for our Tigers teams.  Please be sensitive to this Monday deadline as it was changed for a reason.  It makes sense to have this deadline in December as you can read below.  We want our Tigers to have what they need to get out there and start the season right.  The boys have the desire and ability to compete at the high level they have in the past.  They want to bring it on the field and they want to win.  Now we have to do our part to get it going.

Huntsville Lacrosse Family, I want to once again emphasize that HYLA has moved our "normal" Spring registration timeline from the end of January to 10 Dec.  We have made this change for several important reasons which I list below, but am very concerned that either this word is not getting out to our lacrosse families, or more likely, is getting pushed to the "I will take care of that later" pile.  Well, "later" is pretty much here! The reasons we moved up the registration are:

  1. GBYLA (Birmingham) has cut their registration off on the same date and game scheduling will begin shortly.  We can't schedule games if we don't have teams, and we don't have teams unless YOU register.
  2. Each spring we go through a uniform fiasco waiting for uniforms that were ordered in Jan and normally not getting our game uniforms until a week or two into the season.  By locking down the rosters now, we can get uniforms ordered with GUARANTEES that they will arrive in time for the season.
  3. We compete with the rest of the Huntsville spring recreation sports for fields.  We need registration numbers early so we know how many teams we will need to support (ie fields).

If we go to City of Madison or Huntsville in late Jan requesting fields, we will definitely be at the back of the line and will get whatever is left.So this is why we moved up registration.  Now, we need your support.  I know cash is tight at this time of the year, but if you want your son or daughter to play lacrosse this spring, you want them to be in a uniform that they can be proud of, playing on a field that is not baked clay and rocks, AND don't want to pay the late fee for registering after the cut-off date- then I implore you to go to the link below and REGISTER!

Finally, please help us spread the word.   We want Huntsville lacrosse to continue to grow and be competitive regionally, but need your participation to continue down this path.  One More!

Grissom Goalie Mikey McNeil Signs Scholarship Offer To Play Lacrosse For Catawba College (NC)


Tigers Well Represented on Alabama All-State LAX Team 

Congratulations to Kyle Kopfinger, Carson May and Austin Kusiak for being selected to the Alabama All-State Lacrosse Team.  They were recognized at halftime at the Showcase game on Saturday night.  Congratulations also to Mikey McNeil and Nate Murphy for receiving an Honorable Mention.
