Head Coach - Marc Cowell
Coach Cowell

Coach Cowell was named head coach of the Tiger Baseball Program in November 2003. Previously, Coach Cowell was an assistant/head coach at various levels at Dakota Ridge, Wheat Ridge, Green Mountain and Standley Lake High Schools.

During his six year tenure at Holy Family, Coach Cowell has led the Tigers to a 99-29 (.773) record.

2004  The Tigers finished with a 14-6 record and a third place finish in a tough Metro League.  The went on to win their first regional playoff game against Sheridan before losing to D' Evelyn in the championship game.

2005  The Tigers finished the season 17-5 and a third place finish in the Metro League.  The TIGERS continued their regular season success by winning their first regional playoff game in program history beating Hotchkiss 3-0. The Tigers played in the District and Region 4 championship games, finishing the season in the state's top ten.

2006  The TIGERS finished the regular season 17-2 and captured the program first Metro League Title since 1987! However, in the district playoffs the TIGERS were upset on their homefield by a tough Colorado Academy team that went on to win the district title. The TIGERS team offense finished atop of all 3A squads throughout the state.

2007  The TIGERS finished the season 13-6 and a third place tie in the Metro League.  For the third straight year the TIGERS finished in the top 3 in 3A team offense.  The TIGERS made to the the District Championship game before losing to the State's #3 ranked team from Lamar.

2008  The Tiger finished the season 16-5 and good enough for a third place finish in the Metro League.  For the second straight year, the Tigers advanced to the District Championship game before a heart breaking loss 5-4 to Manitou Springs.  Despite falling short of their goal, the Tigers rebounded quickly and posted the best Legion B Summer record in history with a record of 33-11. It was the second straight season the Tigers qualified for the Legion B State tournament.  The Tigers fell one game short of their goal: a championship.  A 6-1 loss to Eaton in the Championship game ended the summer as State Runner-up.

2009    2009 prove to be a record setting year for the Tiger program.  During the spring season, the Tigers finished 22-3 and a perfect 13-0 in the always tough Metropolitan League.  The 22 wins set a new mark for spring season victories.  The Metro League title was the second in four years and the perfect league record was a first for the program.  The Tigers made it to the CHSAA State Title game for the first time in program history before falling just short of the program's first State Championship.

Despite the heartbreaking end to a great spring season, the Tigers reloaded for their Legion B summer season. The Tigers would finish the season 33-5 (the second consecutive summer season of 33 victories). Three of the five Tiger losses were to all-star teams from Missouri and Texas. The Tigers only lost two games to team in the state of Colorado.  As with the spring, the Tigers finished a perfect 22-0 in the Denver Metro League.  The Tigers captured their second League and District titles in three years. After defeating long time rivals, Faith Christain in the District Championship game, the Tigers set their sights on the making their third straight title game appear (spring and summer). The Tigers would defeat Eaton, Roosevelt (4A) and Northridge (4A) twice to cap a perfect 4-0 record and the program's first ever STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Since 2004, there have been 31 different TIGERS name to the Metropolitan League All Conference (21 Named 1st Team), 19 different players receiving various All-State honors (Rockmountain News, Denver Post and CHSCA) and 22 different players named All-Academic All State.

Under Coach Cowell, 10 players have gone on to play at the collegiate level from Junior College to NCAA Division I. These schools include Emory University, Seward County, Briar Cliff College, Colorado School of Mines, Trinidad State, Otero Junior College and the University of Central Arkansas.

Coach Cowell’s “other job” is as an Executive Director for an agency that provides supports and services to developmental disabled adults in the community. He has a wife of 15 years, Dawn and they have a 13-year-old son, Dante.
