Senior Recognition and Signing
Many TIDE members have been following the success of our seniors through out their swimming career. We are very excited to announce that all of the current TIDE Seniors will be going on to swim at the collegiate level.
Josh Hall, one of the top recruits in the nation this spring, has accepted an athletic and academic scholarship offer from the University of MN. A senior at Wausau East High School, Hall is a High School State Champion, an All-American, a Junior and Senior National and US Open Qualifier. Hall placed 3rd at the Grand Prix meet this past fall in the 200 breaststroke and broke the Wisconsin State Record in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke. Hall's times ranked him in the top 5 nationally among high school swimmers.
Minnesota is one of the top swimming schools in the nation. They placed 3rd in the Big Ten and 11th in the Nation. Bill Tramel, Assistant Coach of the Minnesota team, says, "We are very excited to have Josh as a Gopher this Fall. Josh will also be in good company with two other Wausau alum teammates; Rob Schnitzler and David Hawker. We are happy to keep our relationship with the TIDE, as Abby continually produces top caliber athletes and first class people."
Luke Koenig has accepted an athletic scholarship to the University of Wyoming, a Division 1 College. Lucas, a senior at Wausau East High School, is a High School State Champion, an All American, and a Junior and Senior National Qualifier. Wyoming is a great swimming school and the Cowboys were 3rd in the Mountain West Conference this season. Luke will be a big player on their team. Luke narrowed his choices to Iowa, Green Bay, South Dakota and Wyoming. Luke is interested in studying Pharmacy and attending a college where he can still fish and hunt. After visiting Wyoming, Luke knew that it was a perfect fit for him.
Amy Lewis, a senior from Wisconsin Rapids, has accepted an athletic scholarship to Penn State University. Amy is an All American, a Wisconsin State Champion and a Junior National Qualifier. Amy visited Minnesota, Indiana, Purdue, Ohio State and Penn State. She enjoyed most of her visits and really had a hard time choosing between Penn State and Purdue. Penn State has a beautiful 50 M outdoor pool that they train in most of the year, she was very excited about that opportunity. Penn State Women finished 3rd in the Big Ten and 38th in the Nation. Amy will be a huge contributor in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke events. Amy liked the team and the coaches and ultimately decided Penn State was the best fit for her.
Kaitlyn Hilgemann, a Wausau East High School senior, has decided to pursue her swimming career at UW-La Crosse. Kaitlyn is an All American swimmer who holds multiple swimming records at Wausau East. UW-La Crosse finished 1st in the WIAC conference and 8th at the NCAA III Championships. Kaitlyn will be a major player on the team. Kaitlyn has been instrumental in the success of the Tiny TIDES, Novice and Intermediate programs. Anyone that has seen Kaitlyn coach would not be surprised to know that Kaitlyn will be pursuing a career in Elementary Education.
