Requirements for Player Participation (age, residence, etc.)
Requirements prior to Participation  -
Little League Baseball and Softball does not limit participation in its activities on the basis of disability, race, creed, color, national origin, gender, sexual preference or religious preference - and will not turn any child away for lack of or limited funds.
  1. Child must reside within the boundaries of the league in which they are registering (note item #3) and must be "League Age" 5 through 18 (note item #2).
  2. League President or Player Agent must view the ORIGINAL or State certified copy of the Child's Government-Issued Birth Certificate (the "hospital record" is not a valid 'proof of age).  Also, the State of California announced in 2005 they no longer recognize or honor the "California Abstract of Birth" and neither can Little League.  The family will need to contact County Recorder where the Abstract was issued to arrange an exchange for a valid document (free).
  3. League President or Player Agent must view three (3) proof of residence documents - examples of which are a drivers license, vehicle registration, utility bill, voter registration, school document, insurance document
  4. With the exception of Challenger Division players (children with disabilities not playing on 'conventional teams'), all players league ages 9 through18 are required to attend at least one of the "minimum" two scheduled Player Evaluations to help the league create the best balance among teams in each division and place your child in the best division for their growth and development!

IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING POST-SEASON ALL STARS!!!

Click on newsflash blue ovalto learn more about the

2010 All Stars & visit the District 9 Website!

Regular Season ended about June 15th!  Depending on the participation of each of the leagues in District 9, information regarding local tournaments and the State Tournament hosted in district 9 is posted to the District website, along with links to State, Regional, and International Websites so you can follow tournaments through Championship Games even at World Series!

In Little League, "League Ages" are determined based on dates established the International/National Youth Baseball & Softball Committees ...
for Co-ed Tee-Ball and Baseball ..
The players' age is determined by their age on April 30th of the current year
for Girls' Fastpitch Softball ...
The players' age is determined by their age on December 31 of the prior year.
Contact your local league to see if they are providing or involved in a "Training and Development" focused program where youth can still 'play ball' while developing skills specific to the games of Baseball and/or Softball!

Little League's Challenger Division - for boys and girls ages 5 through 21 - is an adaptive baseball program for children with mental and/or physical disabilities.  For more information on the Challenger Division, view our "Challenger Division" link or click here to contact District Staff.  As in Baseball, "League Age" for boys and girls in this Division is based on the players age on April 30th of the current year.
