Annual General Membership Meeting
Tuesday, June 24, 2008
 
Attendees: Matt Miller, Michelle Miller, Josh DeHaven, Tina Bauer, Pat Sloan, Shawnee Sloan, Meilani Kelley, Trevor Kelley, Bryce Gormley, Jenifer Gormley, James Cantlin, Shannon Casley, Keyola Armstrong, Tamarra Armstrong, Jerry Washum
 
*6:15pm - Meeting was called to order by V.P., Josh DeHaven.  Josh welcomed everyone and thanked them for taking time to come and participate in the meeting.  He also encouraged those that were in attendance to spread the word that volunteers are needed.

*The prepared agenda was reviewed.

*Introduction of 2008 Board of Directors: Vice President - Josh DeHaven, Secretary - Jenifer Gormley, Treasurer - Michelle Miller, SB Player's Agent - Bryce Gormley, BB Player's Agent - Shannon Casley, Information Officer - Matt Miller, Coaching Coordinator - Pat Sloan, President - Bo Hart, Safety Officer - Brandon Davisson

*Summary of the 2008 Season -
-Over $3000 went into Field Improvements @ Thurston Middle (field 1 & 2) & Mt. Vernon Elementary.
-Opening & Closing ceremonies were the first the league has hosted in over 3 years, both were received with great feedback and were a great success.
-Uniforms were a huge part of the learning process this year.  The board as well as parents were disappointed in the quality of the uniforms themselves as well as the service provided by the vendor.  The 2008 board has already collected information to pass on to the 2009 board for uniforms in hopes that the same mistakes are not repeated.
-McKenzie Little League served over 175 children in the Thurston area this year, 5 T-Ball teams, 4 Coach Pitch teams, 3 Minors teams and 2 Major teams.

 *I.O., Matt Miller outlined the rules of the meeting and read portions of the McKLL constitution related to the meeting.

*The voting process was outlined and it was noted that 20% quorum was needed for votes to be recorded.  There were 15 people in attendance, 27% of the membership was in attendance.

*It was then put before the general membership that the name of the Little League serving the Thurston High School boundaries be changed from McKenzie LIttle League and now be chartered under the name Thurston Little League.  It was motioned and approved unanimously.

*The candidate nomination process was outlined and the floor was opened for questions.

*All of the Board of Directors position descriptions were reviewed and the floor was opened for questions.

*I.O., Matt then asked for volunteers interested in being nominated.  The following individuals volunteered: Matt Miller, Michelle Miller, Shannon Casley, Pat Sloan, Trevor Kelley, Josh DeHaven, Bryce Gormley & Jenifer Gormley.

*The following people were then nominated for election: Pat Sloan nominated Matt Miller; Matt Miller nominated Michelle Miller; Jenifer Gormley nominated Shannon Casley; Josh DeHaven nominated Pat Sloan; Pat Sloan nominated Trevor Kelley; Bryce Gormley nominated Josh DeHaven; Shannon Casley nominated Jenifer Gormley; Josh DeHaven nominated Bryce Gormley.

*I.O., Matt asked again if anyone else was interested in a position on the 2009 Board of Directors, with no response from those present..

*I.O., Matt asked a second time if anyone else was interested in a position on the 2009 Board of Directors, with no response from those present.

*I.O., Matt announced final call for anyone else interested in a position on the 2009 Board of Directors, with no response from those present.

*I.O., Matt directed everyone to vote using the provided ballots.

*Secretary, Jenifer Gormley collected votes and along with Vice President Josh DeHaven tallied the votes.

*The 2009 Board of Directors was announced:  Matt Miller, Michelle Miller, Shannon Casley, Pat Sloan, Trevor Kelley, Josh DeHaven, Bryce Gormley & Jenifer Gormley.

*V.P., Josh DeHaven recognized Minors coach, Jerry Washum for a job well done this year.  The Board received positive feed back from a parent about Jerry stating that Jerry is what LL is all about, being out there for the kids.

*I.O., Matt Miller then asked Jerry to offer any feedback from a coach's perspective.  Jerry said that communication needs to continue to be a priority for everyone, whether it be phone calls, emails or US mail.  The board needs to use multiple forms of communication.  Jerry went on to say that fields was one of the most frustrating parts of the 2008 season.  He said that he is looking forward to the new agreement between Babe Ruth, Kidsports, Little League and the school district to hopefully avoid the schedule changes and confusion.

*Fundraising was discussed breifly, Tamarra Armstrong has volunteered to start marketing the board to Thurston area businesses.  James Cantlen asked for information to present to US Bank at thier annual meeting.  Secretary, Jenifer Gormley will be getting the necessary forms to both.

*7:20pm - The General Meeting was completed, the 2009 board was asked to stay.

*It was decided by the 2009 Board of Directors that we would are not assigning positions at this time with the exception of President.  Matt Miller was unanimously nominated by the board to become the 2009 Thruston Little League President.  Matt accepted the position.

*7:40pm - Meeting was adjourned.
