Wednesday, December 10
Thurston vs. South Medford
As their first home game approached, the Thurston girls basketball team was excited. But they knew they faced a challenge with 3 of South Medford's girls over 6 foot.  The tallest being 6'5". The first half was competitive and ended 33-31. South Medford's Brittany Newcomb had 17 of their points. The Colts came out determined to stop her the second half. Natalie Smith held her to 2 points the entire second half with a lay up that came in the last 20 seconds of the game. The Colts outscored the Panthers 30-11 in the second half and outrebounded them 41-12, with 13 of those coming on the offensive end. Elise Nelson had 26 points, 6 assists, and 7 rebounds while Brittney Pierce had her 1st career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Thurston faces a long road trip on Saturday, December 13 at they go to Prineville to take on Crook County.

Monday, December 8
Thurston vs. Redmond
The Thurston girls basketball team was looking for redemption after their loss to Prairie Friday night.  Saturday they came out ready. They took on Redmond and dominated the entire game. Thurston held Redmond to 3 field foals for the entire game. Thurston shot 42% from the field and 33% from beyond the ar. Redmond did not score more than 6 points in a quarter with Thurston holding them scoreless in the 3rd quarter. Elise Nelson finished with 19 points, 4 steals, and 5 rebounds and Natalie Smith had 11 points. Brittney Pierce was the leading rebounder with 6. Up next for Thurston is their first home game vs. South Medford at 7 PM on Tuesday December 12th.
