Coach Hubner's Tallwood High School teams have successfully captured the Beach District regular season championship and district tournament championship for the last five years. Additionally, coming into the 2003 season, the Lions have a Beach 67-match winning streak. Coach Hubner was named VHSL State Coach of the Year in 1998 and 2000; Eastern Region Coach of the Year in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002; and Beach District Coach of the Year in 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001. She coached State Player of the Year Brendan Rooney (1998), All-State 2nd team player Jason Munoz (1998), All-State 1st team player Ty Forehand (1999), State Player of the Year Ty Forehand (2000), All-State 1st team player Daniel Bowery (2000), All-State 2nd team player Justin Hales (2000), All-State 1st team player Alex Brownley (2001), All-State 2nd team player Christian Mosley (2001), All-State 1st team players Christian Mosley and Chris Dabu (2002), and All-State 2nd team player Josh Mallory (2002). Hubner is CAP I certified by USAVolleyball.
Coach Hubner grew up in Southern California, where she learned volleyball under the guidance of Coach Steve Stratos, now a Division I head coach at Loyola Marymont University. In her senior year with the Lansing (KS) Lions, Hubner was named All State 1st team and MVP of the KAW Valley League. Additionally, she lettered all four years in basketball, four years in track, and played softball a couple of summers. Currently, Coach Hubner teaches English. This is her tenth year in education, with eight at Tallwood.
